Default How fast can the internet in cebu go?

    Hello istoryans!

I am from california and planning to be living there in cebu soon this year.

I am a really big gamer and planning to play games there such as LoL/Dota2

The internet speed here is: 15.40 Mb/s download. 5.71 Mb/s upload and 17 ping.

I was wondering whats the fastest upload/download speed there.

And maybe recommend me what internet I need to use there for fast internet speed.

    Thank you!

If you're willing to pay, you can get the speed you want. You see people telling you PH's Internet speed sucks yet most of them pay only PhP 999 a month and expect the world. I once visited a friend and he has a leased line and can download a full HD movie in less than 15 minutes for a 5-digit price

if you have the money... you could get a dedicated line from any ISP but it would cost you more and you won't be having bandwidth cap and no disconnection as what I've heard. last time i check its arond 30-40k (or around $500 and up)

another option is Fiber/Torque. It is already being offered by both PLDT and Globe but only thru selected areas like posh villages/subdivisions (eg sto niņo village, ma. luisa and Beverly Hills Subdivision to name a few) prices range from 3,500php to upwards of 20k depending on the speed

    LTE/4G for gaming, nope.

You can get Fibr (20/10 for 5.8k) if you're within coverage. Can give you ~25 ping to most SEA servers.

you cannot blame those people who complains about their internet speed...subscription here in phil is relatively expensive compared to other countries...a plan equivalent to Php 999 would get you to around 15-20 mbps on other countries while here its just a mere 1 to 1.5 mbps at the most. of course being an engineer who understands how telecoms work i could say that consumers can do little about it because it all depends on the telco companies that are also trying to maximize their profits by deploying only enough infrastructure and bandwidth to support their customer base (residential/business). business/corporate lines always have higher priority since they also pay higher.

back to the topic...TS here in Philippines you can get a residential internet connection for as fast as 100 mbps (fiber) which would cost you around Php 20000 but this is only available for selected areas (high end subdivisions, condos, etc). normal dsl speeds could give guaranteed speeds ranging from 1mbps to 10 mbps (via copper/cable) with a price range of Php 1k to 5k depending on your plan (and area too).

if you can afford you can get a dedicated business/corporate type internet subscription (symmetric upstream and downstream) that ranges from 4 to 100 mbps (via copper or fiber) with a price range of Php 30k to 250k per month exclusive of taxes.

i wouldn't recommend a wireless subscription if you have high bandwidth demands because:

    1. they have bandwidth caps (the shi**y part) and have traffic shaping for some. latency is quite high too.
    2. dependent on weather, whether its EDGE, 3G HSDPA, 4G, WiMax, LTE they are all affected (signal usually
degrades on bad weather due to attenuation of signal, a basic characteristic of a radio wave since medium
    of propagation is the atmosphere)
    3. pretty much useless if you're away from the base station (cell site) or if your area is receiving
poor signal quality, you can only get a satisfactory connection if you are receiving a good signal quality (near a base
station that has 3G, 4G/LTE capability)
    4. if you try to compute it on a volume of data transferred per price basis (gigabytes transferred/pesos),
wireless internet subscription is actually more expensive than a fixed/dedicated internet line.
    5. one of only the few "UPs" for mobile/wireless internet is, mobility so to speak but when it comes to stability
and reliability, they are not that good unless you have an exceptional setup/good connection on your area.

If you need to have some actual assistance for your network setup just pm me. Probably I can extend a little help for you regarding those things.
