Default HELP:: TEACHING STUDENTS on how to take care of MOTHER EARTH

We had a meeting with environment advocates here in CEBU. We have observed nowadays that different learning institutions may somehow neglect teaching their students the NATURAL ways of taking care of mother nature.
As an advocate, we are thinking of ways on how we can help CEBU and eventually the whole Philippines to take care of mother nature and we believe that FUTURE generation must know this.

We know a very prominent school here in Cebu that they had one subject that tackles basic gardening and poultry. And we know students were so lingaw about it, i remember my brother bringing home petchay and a small part of chicken from their harvest from school! (But we are not sure if naa pa ba na karon). We really appreciate that way of teaching students all these, pero as far as maka recall ako brother ana siya they are using chemicals and urea back then, which is way too harmful for the kids and the environment as well.

So, we would like to propose a very nice way of teaching your students/pupils ORGANIC way of taking care of mother earth. And we will be having it on a step-by-step basis. From PROPER WASTE SEGREGATION, TO RECYCLING, MAKING THEIR OWN ORGANIC COMPOST, to teaching them on how to do ORGANIC FARMING/GARDENING/POULTRY.

di ba nindot ni bros and sis? makaton atong mga anak, igsoon, igagaw, our future pinoy kids ani? ALL natural way of living. At an early age makabalo na sila on how to take care of mother nature? and kabalo sila mu deskarte using simple materials (recyclables, harvested vegetables and poultry)?

can somebody advise us on how to do about this very nice idea? gnahan kaayo mi mag
sugod gyud ani... sayang ang panahon... we hope to have some insights from you

    salamat daan God Bless

The best thing to do is to make a proposal on your advocacy
so you can have a symposium or a workshop in all the schools
for a better dissemination of the information you want to
inculcate to all the young minds

You address your proposal to either the school's directress or
principal when it comes to primary and secondary schools or
to the college dean for tertiary levels.

    God bless TS

    No prob

As long as you have set your goals, modified some activities in line
with the environmental concerns and add innovative ways to help
Mother Earth, there's no way schools will decline your proposal

As a former member of the academe, we always welcome fresh new
ideas from any given dynamic team for the welfare of our environment.
This will be a good avenue for students to be an active Eco-warrior

    My suggestion:

    1) (for elementary and high school students) tudlui ang mga students unsaon pag-compost, nya pa-compost'sa sila sa school. Once mahimo na jud humus ang ilang compost, IMONG paliton and the payment is by way of doing a project for the school or for a classroom (eg: re-painting of schools, install ceiling fans, etc)

    2) (for high school & college students) tudlui sila unsaon pagbuhat og hand-made paper. Nya same as above, paliton ninyo. This time around, bayaran na jud ninyo in cash. Pero pwede pud nga inyo lang i-exchange for laboratory equipment like microscope, etc.

    3) (for high school and college students gihapon) teach them how to do aquaphonics, hydroponics or mushroom culture. Siguroa nga indigenous products/raw materials inyo ipagamit
-----aquaphonics & hydroponics - using plastic bottles, used drums, (naay hydro & aquaponic thread diri sa iStorya)
-----mushroom culture - using sawdust, or banana leaves, or napier leaves, or lawanit ba ron to grow mushrooms (for oyster & paddy straw mushrooms)

    4) If ka-familiar mo anang investigatory project, ipadayon jud ninyo. Pagka-high school namo, naa mi ingon ani. Naay inter-school contest ani. This is DOST & DECS connected.

    ...hope these little ideas help...

My recommendation is you layout the plan specifically.

The type of plants that you'll want the kids to grow, the location, the time, and where will the budget be from.

The goal is very noble. I can see no reason for this to be not viable. Yet once and for all -besides caring mother nature -what can the kids get from doing it? -This part should be emphasized since not everybody shares the same cause as we do.

    Good luck
