HELP!! My Portable WD hard drive got Corrupted

Hello mga bossing! I need help.

I have a 500gb WD portable hard drive that won't open anymore.

What happened was, I tried to transfer around 16gb total of movies from my laptop to this hard drive and suddenly it hung. I waited for several minutes but I saw a "not responding" message on the windows of that transfer.

I removed the cable, plugged it again and tried to open the hard drive via My Computer. Then, the My Computer window always hangs showing the "not responding" message.

I googled the error, and tried using the cmd.exe problem fixer by typing: chkdsk /f /r /c f:, but to no avail... just like the My Computer, it hangs..

I know some of you will advise me to go to the store I bought it for service, but I want to fix it on my own para sad makat-un ug something new... last resort nalang siguro if wala jud mahimo...

Does anyone know if this could still be fixed without opening the portable drive?

how old is the unit sir? have you tried any of those partition recovery softwares?

ako advice if naa pa warranty is diretso jud uli. hehe... then most importantly if maka decide ka nga e adto sa store... ayaw jud e-ingon nga imong gi-remove ang cable nga wala nimo gi safety remove tungod kay nag hung (if kana ang imong gibuhat). kay if malason ka'g stricto nga store ma ty na imo portable drive

Try plugging it in other CPU's then if naa man gane m.dawat niya..remove the newly copied items, IE delete.. then plug balik sa imong PC...
If this does not work, plug it in a new PC then copy all files sa HDD to that PC then reformat the HDD
If this does not work try copying the files from HDD to PC via CMD, then reformat the HDD via CMD
If this does not work Reformat the HDD totally without copying the files, then recover the files via PIRIFORM RECUVA...
If this does not work Return the HDD to the store
If this does not work, buy a new HDD

hehehe.. mao lagi boss.. mang-think pakog palusot ani if ever mo-adto jud ko sa store... sa NUTech SM Cebu City d.i ni nako gipalit... makalagot.. dali-a ra nihinay... wala pa gani nag-1 year..
