Default Cebu Poodle Society (Poodle Lovers)

Hi Everyone, I noticed that there isn't a Poodle thread or Poodle society in Cebu, which I find surprising since Poodles are definitely one of the most popular and highly respected dog breeds around the world. I am certain that there are many people in Cebu who owns a Poodle - many may not even be aware of how special this particular dog breed is.

Any vet or dog expert cannot ever dispute the intelligence of poodles. Poodles, indeed has a GREAT sense of humor but are also quite elegant. I would like to invite everyone, Cebuanos, to post your poodle stories and photos here. I'd love to know your stories and hope you'd share them for others to learn about also.

I'm going to re-post my comments on "the best dog breed for kids" here.

    Enjoy!
    ------------------------------------------------
The best dog breed for kids (for me), hands down is the Mini Poodle. Mini Poodles are non-aggressive, are very intelligent and the most affectionate. I would also recommend the Toy but they are more at risk with kids than the other way around. At least a Mini Poodle is not too small for rough play but are very gentle always with kids. Poodles, if properly groomed is like a live stuffy toy that your kids can definitely snuggle with in bed. It's a great breed for kids to grow up with. Most poodles has the natural instinct to snuggle under their arm and keep them warm. Poodles are hands down the most intelligent and sweetest breed. Golden Retrievers are good but too big for kids to maintain. Owning a poodle is also a great way for kids to learn a sense of responsibility. Poodles are very easy to train and your kid will definitely have plenty of great time with it. Poodles very much love to please their owner by learning new tricks. I think it is a privilege to own a poodle. Poodles are the only dog breed that many would claim as NOT a dog, they are SIMPLY "Poodles". Poodle owner/lovers around the world very rarely refer to their poodles as a dog, they are simply "Poodles".

Poodles are also Hypoallergenic so if your kids are asthmatic or have allergies, they are safe with a poodle. To quote VETSTREET Poodle Breed Information Poodle Breed Information

"No breed has a more highly developed sense of humor than the Poodle. Good thing, too, because no breed has been the butt of more jokes. Humor aside, all the sniping is unfortunate. Many a family overlooks the smart, funny Poodle, thinking him prissy. Still, it is one of the more popular breeds in the world. Poodle lovers know the dogs for their intelligence, ease of training, low-shedding curly coat, and love of family."

This is my poodle, her name is New York.

No STANDARD at the moment. I've been looking for a standard for some time now but surprisingly, there isn't one available for sale. I only have Mini and Toy lang.

Hi Simon, he/she looks so pretty!!! is it a Toy? how old is this poodle? Shihpomapoo Dog Hotel groomers groom poodles very well - we have 8 resident poodles at the Dog Hotel Hope you can check it out!

Please do share any funny episodes with your poodle. I get the best laugh with my poodles- ALWAYS especially when we cage them for potty training and when they are in heat! They are soooo amazingly intelligent and funny.

New York, my white mini poodle would disassemble her cage (the wired version) when she thinks I'm not around. One time, I caught her literally lifting the assembly (not even the door) but the assembly that holds the wall of her cage and started pulling it towards her - when she noticed that I was coming, she slowly pushed it back to place as though she didn't try to come out.

Sunday, my preggy mini poodle (teddy bear type), she was caged on a make shift wooden cage, like this:

and that cage doesn't have a lock yet (which I didn't know at the time). She would bark as though begging me to let her out. This has been going on for weeks! Each time I go to the Dog Hotel, she was always inside the cage. One time, I turned around and I saw her running around the house. I called for the handlers asking them why they let Sunday out since she can't be surrounded by a bunch of male while she's in heat. They gave me a confused look and told me that the cage was never locked and that Sunday always get out. They even said that Sunday would often come out when she thinks nobody is looking and when she hears footsteps, she goes back inside the cage, closes the door and starts barking once again. LOL!

Poodles just drive me crazy with laughter. How about you? what's your story?

This photo looks like a mini Poodle. Standard Poodles are much much larger and taller. The number one Poodle in the world (Cerina) is actually from the Philippines (from Bacolod) - I think the owner's name is Lucy Chan. I don't know if she's breeding or selling though. Often times, breeders who show their dogs tend to be quite exclusive from selling their dog breeds only to people whose intentions are to show them.

I'm grooming my New York to have hair like that. She's only 7 months though.

That is so cute! Yes, they do love to snuggle. So unique from other dogs. They are so comfortable to be hugged and can stay in your arms until you wake up. It's sooo EASY to potty train a poodle. Do you use training pads? or do you have outdoors? You have to give your poodle plenty of challenges because poodles may look very pretty but they are such an intelligent breed. They get bored very easy and when they are bored, they can be very destructive. They will chew on anything. Give them mental stimulants as early as now. My poodle can climb on top of my dining table or anywhere they want to climb. Which is so weird. She acts like a cat.

But each poodle has unique characters. My black one can comfortably stand on his twos. My male apricot can sleep while sitting and they are always so poised.

My other apricot Toy poodle Tyler, is very submissive. But one thing consistent among all of them? you can talk to them like a person. Very responsive.

Try it out with your Crimson. He'll give you plenty of surprises

actually maam/sir, the photo i posted IS Cerina. she was here in cebu during the FCI show in 2011. She's currently the #1 Poodle in the Philippines but not of the world. Perhaps #1 in the world would be GCH Jaset's Satisfaction who is a multi-BIS winner and BIS of the 2011 Eukanuba Nationals. -- but im not sure of this if she's indeed #1 in the WORLD. Yes the owner is Lucy Chan from Manila. She also has several standard poodles fro OSI which she also shows.
