Pentium D s*cks the Electric bill, there was even 5 sets of Pentium D for a trade with amd set a buy and sale, hehehe
yeah! thanks man, I saw that thread also
just wondering why he wants to trade, I've tried using a pentium D though
but my old pentium 4 2.4 ghz socket 478 can still keep up with pentium D's
I think I'll settle for an AM2 soon!
go for am2

I don't think you guys know that much about the pentium D.
It's all about the mobo and setup.
price/performance?
Its cheaper and faster than a AMD athlon 3200 venice

overclocking? how about 4.1ghz stock?

It's all about what type of processing is important to you
It's also the wrong board and ram for an OC pentium D
get at least DDR2 800 and a mobo like the Asus P5WD2-WS
this is not a lazy overclocker's CPU
The Pentium D 820 idles at 48ยบ C. If you're gonna get this PC, at least get ample cooling and airflow on the case, or at least on the room where you'll be putting the computer.
This is the cheapest dual-core you'll ever get. It's not that bad.

As I've said PD's s*cks lots of power and it cant win agains amd's X2 at stock settings, Yes it can even overpower AMD's X2 and FX series cpu's when OC'd but look at the Power Consumption at 4.1GHZ , at stock in both idle an fullload intel's PD's are realy s*cking its own balls,,,hehehehe
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/...es/page14.html
At stock setting its s*cking 258Watts at full load and 474Watts at 4.1ghz, If thats the case i would rather buy the C2D CPU than spending in Pricey water cooling, power supply and etc. just to OC PD's at 4.1GHZ and beat the AMD top line CPU's.
thanks guys for your very wise inputs, much appreciated
peace out!
