    Default Setting up Access Point

I plan to buy an access point to extend the network at home... so i need your inputs kung sakto ba ako understanding sa access point since wala pa koy experience in setting up one.

    so this is my plan:

(internet) ==> Wireless Router ===(wired connection)===> Access Point with Wifi

wireless router settings: DCHP enabled & mac address filtering enabled.

    questions:
    1. the same ba ang network name sa router and access point? or pwede different names?
    2. ang ip address sa access point outside sa dynamic range given sa router?
    3. what is the maximum length sa cable pwede nga ma connect between sa router and access point?
    4. when a pc connects to the access point, ang router ba gyapon ang nag hatag sa ip address? not the access point?

    thats all...

Just a note for #4, disable the DHCP of the Access Point if there is that option so that only the router will handle the DHCP.

Also, is what you're looking for just an Access Point or a Universal Repeater/Extender?

naka gamit ko og repeater/extender nga linksys.... pero bati man kaau kay sige ka drop/disconnect so karon nangita ko og access point nalang or router (convert to access point) to replace my linksys repeater/extender.

mga gurus, naa mo ma suggest nga nindot access point (wireless N) nga reliable & strong signal?

i consider sad ang protocol sa imung main AP and Child AP nimu, mas maayu kung mu gamit kag 802.11 N kay long range 2.4/5 Freq.GHz. Main AP will be your DHCP server, dnt forget lang gyud sa imung Child AP configuration type change it to STATIC IP. Mas maayu ang Netgear or Linksys. peru ok raman sad ang uban brands.

Ok ra ang TP-Link na brand. It's cheap and reliable. Murag #1 man siguro na siya na brand as of now. Based on what I've read on sa mga rankings.

nah, mao2x ra tag problema. ang apan sa ako kay dili ko maka padagan ug wired AP. so wireless bridge, repeater or range extender jud ang hanglan. ang existing router is a WRT54G2 v1. unsay may compatible ani niya to work as a repeater o wireless bridge or vice versa.

after spending a lot of time reading reviews of different routers... i settled on buying this TP-LINK wireless N router (2 antennas, 300 mbps but not dual band) its a around P1,850 sa SM. Naay higher model nga dual band but mas bettter man og reviews ang lower model, i dont know why.... so kato nlang ako gi palit. I hope I got a reliable unit with good range para ma solve na ako dead spots sa balay.
