How did you purchase your smartphone? (e.g iPhone, Android, BB)

I'm doing a research to better understand how smartphones are purchased here in the Philippines. I was hoping you guys can provide me some sort of information about this.


Here are my questions:


1. How did you purchase your smartphone? Did you purchase it as a prepaid kit which means it's unlocked or did you purchase it with a contract which means you're locked in with the provider for a certain number of months?


2. If it's with a contract, then that should mean you need to include a data plan with it, right? How much does your data plan cost?



I really hope you could answer these questions for me. Any information will do.

to answer your question,

My phone came with the post paid plan that I got from
a mobile company which has a 2-yr lock in. Though I am
paying 1.7K monthly, I still have to pay a hefty cash-out
amount to get the phone ~ that's what you get when the
hype for such premium phones is still building up. The cost
is quite steep. However I didn't mind at all because I am
more satisfied with the freebies I got..

.. more free airtime for local and int'l calls, free texts to any
provider and 3G usage
