Default AMD's A6-4400M goes on sale early in Taiwan, courtesy of HP

HP seems to be in a rush to get AMD's upcoming Trinity APUs out in the market, as the company has already started to sell its new Pavilion G6 models in Taiwan sporting an AMD A6-4400M APU. This 15.6-inch notebook also comes with a discrete GPU and an attractive price point to boot.Admittedly the Pavilion G6 isn't sold directly by HP, but rather via an online retailer called PC Home whom various companies sell their products through. The currently listed Pavilion G6 is available in two SKUs, although the only difference appears to be the hard drive size which is either 500GB or 640GB. Both SKUs comes with the AMD A6-4400M APU that has a base clock of 2.7GHz, but it will apparently turbo to 3.2GHz. Both SKUs also comes with a single stick of 4GB of DDR3 1600MHz memory.
The integrated Radeon HD 7520G GPU core has been complimented with a Mobility Radeon HD 7670 with 1GB of discrete DDR3 memory for some hybrid CrossFire action which should be more than sufficient in terms of graphics performance for the rather unexciting 15.6-inch display with 1366x768 resolution. Other features include a DVD writer, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports – via the AMD A70M FCH – a USB 2.0 port, HDMI 1.4, a D-sub connector, a memory card reader, Ethernet, a webcam and a pair of audio jacks. At 2.5kg, this isn't really a notebook you want to lug around with you, but at least the 6-cell battery should provide decent battery life when away from a power socket, although there's no indication on battery life. The good news if you want one, PC Home is shipping globally now and the 500GB SKU will set you back NT$16,900 (US$570/S$729), whereas the 640GB SKU is slightly more expensive at NT$17,900 (US$605/S$770). Do keep in mind that notebooks are more expensive in Taiwan than the US, so if HP decides to launch the same models in the US, they should retail for less.Source: PC Home
