Default Nursing: CGFNS announces final decision regarding June 2006 boardtakers

du...d mada...luoy kay ang mga ni take sa June 2006 board.. they have to retake the local board exams for them to get issued a Visa Screen certificate, which is kind of stupid considering the fact nga almost wala na gi need sa uban states (esp. California) ang local boards for foreign nurses to take their licensure exam. Now ang gi-propose sa CGFNS is that our government should shoulder daw the expenses for the retakers...Pero it's not about the gasto man.... ang time nga na waste lang bah... Luoy man ko ako cousin gud.

I have kumpare who's daughter took that exam and even if she passed she just ignored it and did a retake and again passed. Now she is in for the bag -a good employment package in New Jersey. Katong mga hopeful kaayo nga mareconsider ilang case dako gyud ug pagmahay karon.

Bro, I woudl say that it is really very unfair. Malooy lang ko atong mga ni take nga intawon ilang mga parents nagka diroy diroy ug pangita ug kuarta aron lang ilang anak makapasar unya maka adto sa New York to work as a nurse aron ma alibyo tawon kalisod back home. What the government should have done is that if it is really serious in helping this victimized board examinees, bisag ni extend nalang unta ang government ug emergency loan para ini nila unya payable as soon as they can land a job abroad kay tinuo-ra gasto man gyud kaayo ang pag take ug board. This was somehow overlooked by the government when unta ang mga OFW's karon dako kaayo ug natabang sa nasud. Bisag ang ni bankroll nalang unta sa emergency loan ini nilang mga "victimized examininees" gi bank roll ba sa POEA kay dako man kaayo na sila ug pundo karon. But somehow nobody even made a suggestion to the President during her provincial sorties.

Daghan gyud diay unta ang gusto nga mo take ug balik and they want to leave it all behind to the government to punish the culprits of the crime but somehow ang financial problems lagi ang mo cropped up if ever they have to take again the exam.

yes HANG those culprits of the nursing exam fiasco!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    EDITORIAL - Hanging time.

    The Freeman 02/17/2007

The decision of the US Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools to effectively ban passers of the controversial June 2006 nursing board exams by withholding issuance of a needed VisaScreen Certificate is certain to make Filipinos want to go to war against the US.

Passions are certain to fly through the roof, especially since the US enjoys a one-sided love-hate relationship with the Philippines ( which means the US gets what it wants all the time while we never get what we want, only an approximation of our longing).

Take the case of US soldier Daniel Smith, who was convicted of raping a Filipino woman by a Filipino court. The US quickly invoked the Visiting Forces Agreement in order to spring Smith from jail and gain custody of his person until his appeal is resolved.

The VFA is of course legal and binding, but it has never been tested against American consent, only against the Philippines, as in the Smith case. But it would be a very safe guess to say America is not likely to be as cooperative as it wants the Philippines to be.

Take a look at how the US extracted our cooperation in that regard. It promptly ordered the suspension of the Balikatan exercises until the Philippines says " uncle " and then just as promptly restored it the moment it did.

Sure, we are very angry at the US over the CGFNS flap. But judging by the helplessness of our position, as clearly shown in the foregoing, getting angry is really a useless expending of our useless emotions. Why get mad when there is nothing that can be done to satisfy it?

Let's face it. RP-US relations are not what we naively expect them to be. An entire life spent in honest toil preparing for a better future in the US can come crashing down just because a US consular official did not get a good sleep the night before and refuses to issue a visa.

So what do we do? The best thing is to think positive and correct things one at a time. Since we cannot kick the US, let us kick our own selves. For instance, those responsible for the June 2006 nursing board fiasco are still smug and scot-free. Why not go and hang them?
