...based from what my understanding is that, svchost.exe is a system process which belongs to Microsoft Windows.
this is my key things,
- svchost.exe handles processes executed from DLLs.
- svchost.exe holds multiple Windows services.
- svchost.exe can run in multiple instances and every instance of may hold one or more services. svchost.exe is called a shared service process. Multiple services use it in order to minimise resource consumption.
Question? What happens if I will delete svchost.exe?
ANS: svchost.exe is essential system process and can not be terminated. Its important for the safe and stable run of the computer system. svchost.exe is a system process, it is a safe file and does not pose any threat.
But one thing, various parasites tries to exploit this name and something like similar names (but not svchost.exe itself). If you see a process which looks like this but has a typo - you're infected with Trojans or viruses. Additionally, there is W32.Welchia.Worm which takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down.
these are the names exploited by the parasites:
svchosts.exe, scvhost.exe, scvhosts.exe, svchostc.exe, xsvchost.exe, svchost.exe.bak and others.
Note: sometimes you AV may not be able to detect, so, use processexprolorer.exe and download this tool from a legit website like Microsoft.
