AMD A8-3870K makes it past 6GHz with memory at 3505 MHz!

We've seen some pretty darn impressive overclocks out of AMD's trusty A-series processors, but this fresh result certainly tops the list, An overclocker from the HWBOT community by the name of "Christian Ney" looks to have crossed the 6GHz barrier using an A8-3870K APU, and that's with all of its cores enabled.

Using a base clock rate of 258.2 MHz and multiplier of 47x, a whopping 6067.7 MHz was achieved. Further to that, Christian also managed to get the memory running nicely at an also staggering 3505 MHz, just 95 MHz shy of a new world record for that alone. Of course, this couldn't have been accomplished without a big spoonful of voltage fed to the chip, but with sub-zero (LN2) cooling being the order of the day, the 2V core voltage used was kept in check.

Christian used a GIGABYTE A75-UD4H motherboard for the job together with GeIL's EVO Corsa DDR3 memory. When attempting to submit his CPU-Z result for validation it was rejected however, probably out of disbelief that Llano could handle such abuse from a 2 volt vCore and 258.2MHz base clock versus the default that is a whole 158.2MHz lower.Source: MyDrivers
