Next up in AMD's release schedule is Cape Verde - to be branded Radeon HD 7750 and HD 7770 - February 15th. Cape Verde features 896 SP over 14 CUs and 56 TMU, with a core frequency of 900 MHz in the HD 7770 SKU. HD 7750 will come with 1 CU disabled for a total of 832 SP and 52 TMU. Both HD 7750 and HD 7770 will feature 1GB GDDR5 memory, likely at different frequencies. As previously revealed, the Cape Verde die is rather small and features a 128-bit interface. If previously leaked benchmarks are to be believed, HD 7770 offers near-HD 6850 performance. HD 7770 is expected to be priced at $149, with HD 7750 just $10 cheaper at launch.
Following in March will be the much anticipated performance GPU - Pitcairn. Both HD 7850 and HD 7870 are scheduled for a simultaenous release in March. Pitcairn features 1408 SP / 22 CU / 88 TMU and most likely a 256-bit memory interface. HD 7850 will have 2 CUs disabled, or 1280 SP and 80 TMU. HD 7870 will retail for $299 with HD 7850 coming in at $249. That leaves a massive gap in price and performance between HD 7770 and HD 7850, which will likely be filled with a Pitcairn LE product branded either HD 7830 or HD 7790. Somewhere along the way a 1.5GB HD 7950 is also expected at the $399 price point. Finally, the dual Tahiti behemoth New Zealand is slated for an early Q2 2012 release, with a final date TBD. As expected, New Zealand will be branded HD 7990 and will take over the overall performance crown from HD 6990 and GTX 590. Launch price is $849, which gives it the dubious honour of being the highest priced reference graphics card at launch, eclipsing the 8800 Ultra. Hopefully, we will see some competition from NVIDIA's Kepler not much later, which could see price movements. In addition to GCN based HD 7000 products, AMD has also released a range of rebranded SKUs from HD 7600 down for OEMs. As with the HD 6700 OEM launch, these could also quietly seep into the retail market.
