Imagine giving 5 years of your life (blood and sweat) in service to the company and yet in a swing of unfortunate event you find yourself being let go. It is already unfortunate to lose a job but what is worse is not getting the deserved compensation because of being a "contractual" employee. Keyword is "due compensation" in relation to tenure of service. Murag kwits lang, pacensyahan na lang.
I knew a few people who rendered this lengthy service and yet remained contractual until they were let go. How fair is that? It's like pouring salt to a wound right?
These people that I knew were actually very good in their work. Better than some regulars. Wa lay swerte kay wa man mailhi or dili man du-ol sa luwag.
What "irks" me the most is the sycophantic (sipx2) behaviors of some people in there. It is so obvious that even a blind man can see kung magsinipsip ning mga tawhana, hehehe.
Mailhan man dayon ni sila kay kusog kaayo ang mga kasikas labina kung naay.......you know na, hehehe. And it really makes me sick in my stomach that these sycophantic creatures are easily acknowlege by the higher-ups instead of those who are working deligently hard in their projects producing the actual deliverables.
In where I am currently working now, worth is being measured to the worker's output. Though naa ghapon politics gamay, it is light years in comparison before.
I can feel the descrimination of some regulars to the contractuals. I'm not generalizing all regulars. Kana lang mga hambugero kaayo. Daghan ga-istorya nko ani. Now that the tides have turned and regulars are also in the brink of losing, makabaw nmo kung unsay gibati sa mga contractuals. You're eating your humble pie now. Pero swerte ghapon mo kay naa man mo madawat compared sa contractual na wla jud.
I'm not wishing ill-will to anyone. Sometimes we need a dose of medicine to realize certain things in life. We know being a regular is a previledge but don't slap your status of being a regular to the contractuals.
I had the chance to be regular but I declined due to the fact that I have my own goals and out of respect to the contractuals who came before me. They deserve it more than me.
Anyway, enough of the rant, pacensya nmo. I would encourage everyone to try their luck overseas. You can strengthen your experience while receiving good pay. All it takes is "BALLS" in getting out of the comfort zone. I became an OFW at age 24. Kabuangan ko sa mga kara-an na ngano daw naabot ko Saudi palit patis og suka, hehehe. Being an OFW has many benefits (with drawbacks of course). It all boils down to careful planning. Cheers!
If they were still project-based for five years, I can see four possibilities to this.
First if they chose to remain project-based, meaning they willed it.
Second, the project is a big project and is forecasted to last 5 years or more.
Third, the regular-to-contractual ratio is already high, thus no urgent need to regularize.
Fourth, the Company is in no position or not prioritizing regularizations as of the moment.
Yes, office politics is real.
Sometimes it boils down to your immediate supervisor.
There are cases that a hard working person is deserving of a raise but the immediate supervisor does not acknowledge it.
There are cases that the hard work of the members were credited to the wrong persons.
These are real cases and that is why the Company have established a hotline to discuss these things.
Any unethical or violation of integrity in the office can be reported.
There are also cases though that the immediate supervisor recognizes their members well and develops them.
True leaders are like this.
I agree on your point that careful planning is the key.
There is no instant success, a few push and kick here and there are needed.
Cheers!
