AMD's first chipset for socket FM2 revealed by the USB-IF by VR-Zone.com

It's surprising what you can find browsing compliance databases and we just happened upon a big one today. AMD's next generation chipset for its Trinity Fusion APU's have made an appearance in the USB-IF's certified product list and the USB-IF kindly revealed the chipset name, rather than putting up some kind of code name.

In all fairness, we have very little to go at here, but as you can see from the screenshot below, the first chipset model will be called the A85X. We'd presume that this is the replacement for the x90X series of chipsets for AMD's AM2/3 sockets and this suggests that we might end up seeing a higher-end and a lower-end version as well.

So far the only feature we know that we'll see as part of this new chipset is of course USB 3.0, although we don't expect AMD to go with more than the current four ports as seen in the A75 chipset. Trinity is expected to arrive fairly early next year and judging by the fact that the reference platform has already paced through the PCI-SIG as we reported earlier, it seems like AMD might actually be on track with its follow up to Llano.
