you study and earn a diploma. it covers practically everything from the basics, advance and pattiserie, food science, food service management and everything in between and especially discipline. it is a career. you are TRAINED to cook and it isn't for everyone.
a cooking school goes around from a few days to a few months. teaches basic cooking and baking.
practically teaches you how to cook.
if your interested in cooking this is a good place to start. after that if your still interested and probably serious on being a chef maybe you can proceed to culinary school. and a cooking school is waaay cheaper which is also a good thing.
