After a short discussion on JohnC's thread (where he asked whether it was OK for a 20+ person to enjoy anime on that age), I'm just wondering how 'open' everyone here is as a fan of anime.

Do you openly express/ discuss it with other people who are not a fan of anime?

or do you limit anime related discussions only to people who are also into anime?

or are you hiding it for some reason?

I don't hide that im an anime fan, but I dont discuss it with people who aren't fan, either... coz they wouldn't understand what i'm talking about even if i start a conversation about anime... they'll just think its boring.... -_-

Well, it depends on the person i'm talking with. One time, when DN just started, i told this friend of mine about it for an hour. He ended up watching and liking DN. He wasn't a fan of animu that much before that lol. Then i thought i'd share Kimi ga Nozomu Eien's plot to my research partner before. I guess it made her think if the guy should pick Haruka or the other girl. Well, that was a few years ago though.

Most of the time (and lately, for me), yes. It's easier that way.

Yes, no.. maybe. I try to dress and act normally outside.


tl;dr.. i can talk about it if the other person is interested. It's not that i'm ashamed of it. Heck, i'm happy with my interests and hobbies. I just don't want to be labeled as something by others. But sometimes, i don't care anyway.

I guess I wasn't being clear for the first question.

Imposing anything (anime included) to anyone who did not ask for it is well.. quite stupid. Suggesting it to people who seem interested is another thing.

But what I meant was, if a non-anime aficionado found out that you liked anime, were there times when you tried to hide it? I guess this can be considered as another question. A question which the judgement of the person is the basis of your answer (stereotyping, if it matters to you)

I generally don't declare my intereset in anime. I usually don't start anime related converstations on my own. But if someone else does, I'll gladly talk about it. There were times when other people learned about my interest, but I did not hide it. Sure, there were people who were quick to stereotype, but I quickly broke their necks. My closest friends know that the level of intereset I have is significantly different, but they don't complain since I sometimes host anime marathons in my room.

i made my account 2 in facebook.. coz my alumni in college they think of me as weird , mentally retarded bcoz i usually watch anime.. f*ck them all... mao nagbuhat ko og duha ka account sa facebook pra ang usa sa mga boring persons.. unya ang usa kanang mo sabot sa akong lifestyle... they think of me as a loser.. hell yeah watever... wala koy paki nila... but still i usually visits my boring account coz i want to see their updates in life...
