MANILA, Philippines – A fetus sealed inside a mayonnaise jar was found among the heaps of refuse in Sampaloc, Manila, Friday, the third found within a week in the city.
Police estimated the fetus to be four to five months in development and could have possibly been aborted or miscarried.
Reports from the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section said that the fetus in the jar was discovered at around 7 a.m., Friday, by a resident of Barangay 434 Zone 44 at the corner of Jhocson and Extremadura Streets in Sampaloc.
The unidentified resident turned over the fetus to barangay officials who immediately reported the discovery to the police. The fetus was brought to the Archangel funeral parlor for safekeeping while homicide investigators conduct follow-up operations for the identification of the person responsible for discarding the fetus.
Last Tuesday night, two were discovered in Manila, one at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, the other at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo.
A male fetus, six to seven months in development, was found wrapped in a green plastic bag left at the Manila Cathedral while the other was left inside a box at the Quiapo Church.
