Default SSD's - Your experience/s...... good or bad

Hi all, would like to get some feedback from members who have had experience with SSD's and what sort of gains you noticed compared to regular HDD's.

I recently got a Kingston SSD Now V-Series 64gb to try out. This is an entry level SSD which supposedly performs only slightly better than hdd's and considerably lesser compared to the intel and corsair offerings.

There are numerous write-ups and reviews on different models, a quick google search and your on your way to knowing the ins and outs of SSD's.

Unfortunately price is the biggest concern to really getting this out for the mainstream, like all things, prices will drop - when? who knows.

Here's a link to a review of the Kingston:

Your opinions and feedback will no doubt be helpful to us all here, so please post away.

imho dli pa jud worth it ang mga ssd's, mahal kaayo, gamay pa capacity, and hinay write speed, at this point my preferred choice would be Samsung's Spinpoint F3, you get the most "bang" for your "buck". Ana pa na ang mga ssd's kay bago paman, I say let the tech mature a bit then consider buying em. can't wait for ssd's to go mainstream tho, I'll raid0 (imo is teh most logical raid choice for ssd's since only draw back would be higher failure rates, which is negated by ssd's reliability) 6 of those suckers if I have teh chance.

Using Intel 80G X25-M SSD G2 on my old AMD X2 5000+ setup...

    - System boots faster
    - Applications are more responsive
    - Games load A LOT faster... (cuts loading times in MW2 by about 1/3)

    - Overall a good system / games drive...

Anyone getting this should have it as a system drive then place the documents (pics, music, videos) on a HDD.

The read and write speeds arent really the things that make this drive fast... its the seek times and random access times that give the feeling of speed and responsiveness.

P0w3rM0v3, oli_826, vipvip68, you guys are right on the money. Yes those intels are very good with the option for "tweaking" it for beter performance. Have any of you tried doing this? What WEI scores do you get compared to your old SSD's.

I'm noticing my system now is a lot snappier than before and can only attribute this to the SSD.

devilsburger - Bought it from the US, $114
