Default Why some pinoys in the US discriminate their fellow pinoys?

I called a Filipina who owns an employment agency in Virginia a few hours ago. I asked my mom and some friends if they know an available sitting job. I need it temporarily to save money to follow a different career path than web development, enroll in a short-term class. Yes, I'm generally stupid. But a job such as this requires constant study and upgrade to meet the upgrade of softwares, programming, literally versions increment constantly... that I can't do on-the-job because my employers do not allow me to, affects my relationship and time with my 21-month old baby at home. So I decided I need to swith to a different career job that don't require me to spend time related to work after work hours. I don't want to prioritize work over my kids.

This woman talked to me on the phone like I came out of the forest, uneducated and stupid. She doesn't like hiring married and especially with kids, she said. She deliberately insulted me over and over again conversing with a very discriminating voice like she's such a somebody, thinks she's better than any filipino else.

Ga bisaya siya pero insultador and discriminating kaayo. Kana ganing pinoy nga mura nang kinsa. "O, naa man kay baby? Di ko ganahan ana. Ug masakit ang baby absent pud ka!?" "naunsa ka man, kalayo nimo sa rockville!?" "Ahhh di ko gusto anang minyo kay ug moingon ang bana absent absent pud dayon na sila" "ngano di pa man ka resident? unsa man diay na imo bana!?" pinabundak nga pangutana.... on and on and didn't even give me a chance to let me finish answering her questions. She discriminated me because of my age, my marital status, for having kids.

While she was blabbing and blabbing criticizing my status for not being a resident yet after all marrying an american and said her neice became a citizen after less than 2 years. Now...that I know... isn't right. Immigration requires 2 years in the marriage for the residency, and 3 years after that to become a citizen, for cases such as mine.. fiance.

I realized an awful thing... kay tungod housekeepers and sitters ang ilahang ipanghire nga mga pinoys.... okay lang labu-labuhon ug insulto, ug discriminate. She said she was gonna call me if there's a job available for me. But after knowing her, I said tomyself... "she needs to kiss my ass". Prejudiced *****! Maylang kay nihilak akong baby mo to i had to hang up. If she calls me again, I'm gonna record our conversation.

What people like her should know:

I call for stopping discrimination among us Filipinos. Stop being assholes.

that's exactly the same sentiment newcomers in the U.S. get as soon as they scour the area looking for jobs. I'm sad it happened to my friends, sad it happened to some of my relatives and I'm steaming mad hearing it from you. I do have a personal story I wanna share but I'll do it in the proper time. I'm still waiting for the Visa number to become current so I can apply for adjustment of status (I-485) from non-immigrant worker to immigrant. but for now, I'll be keeping it to myself and cross my fingers that there'd be no more hitches in the process.

I surely know what you're talking about. I know how it feels when you get discriminated against, not by foreigners but sadly, by people of your own race. people who share your own dialect, people who's got the same blood running thru your veins.

    such @#$%^&!!..

go ahead, call or e-mail the Equal Employment Opportunity Commision (EEOC). click the link below:

just select your local or area office on the list.

    Goodluck!!
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!

That is illogical... we're not in the Philippines to just shrug and ignore problems in our society (ah ana naman gyud na) we're in America. Americans are proud for at least they know they're free. I don't think they should be tolerated.

I might get back at her or I might not, but from now on, I will tell people like her to their faces and remind them of their responsibility conforming to laws that govern employment.

Just because we see them everyday doesn't make it right, nor tolerable. Just because nobody ever filed a discrimination claim against a fellow Filipino doesn't mean it ain't gonna happen. One day, somebody somewhere will have the courage to stand up and say "I object"

    @Gwyn indeed krus.

@omad, la pa ko evidence. Pero abi nimo the very best way to get her is to report her to the Immigration pero di lang ko kay maluoy ko's mga ipang deport unya.

Kung pwedi pa nimo laparongon siya kay grabe sad iya attitude towards nimo misis.

you should have reminded her of the equal opportunity employer policy here in the states.....she can actually be sued for what she said to you.....
unfortunately there are some filipinos who think so highly of themselves here as if they are the it thing....
