Default Is it possible for a radio to tune in to more than one frequency?

It is a fact that we can only tune in to one frequency or station per radio.

is it possible to construct a radio that can tune in to several stations or frequency at one setting?

this is just out of curiosity based on the analogy that light is composed of several wavelengths that when added produces white light.

is the same also true for sound? will "white" sound be produced when certain wavelengths are added together. with light its called "additive mixing."

of course light is diff from sound since sound is produced by the vibration of molecules while light is an EM phenom.

common sense tells us that we get a cacophony or a dissonance when two or more "sound waves" interfere as observed when 2 or more radios are turned on simultaneously.

im asking thi since science is [always] counter intuitive.

or maybe im just asking the wrong question.

share some of your thoughts on this.

what kind of signal processing are you referring to bro? radio can be transmitted in many different kinds of methodology be it just the carrier, or with modulation. if you attempt to mix many different signals in one setting, you will get a complex set of signals heterodyning with each other. the harmonics would be enough to flood any intelligible message intended for communication.

yes it is possible but it is not desirable.

    tnx sa reply bai.

i could picture out all sorts of waveforms placed on a single line.

what i had in mind is the principle behind it. im thinking about diffraction of soundwaves. a collection of molecules rather than single photons.

Yap, pwede kaayo, mag himo ka daghan tuner dayun ang audio signal imo e feed paingon sa audio mixer.

if theres a possibility, lay some evidence here..

Whe are talking about sounds right? so this is audible to human ear. One example of this is the DJ mixer, you can combine 2-3 tracks with the use of that device.

But when you combine all sounds, music will become a noise.

naay gitawag ug guard band. sa AM, 1Khz each side. sa FM, 1Mhz each side.

    it's all about the harmony.
    hehehe.

i think its possible...i have observed sauna using an analog radio receiver, if dili matarong ug set ang frequency tuner, sometimes mag-overlap ang two ka stations so murag duha imung madunggan nya lahi2 ug information...although d na ni possible sa digital radios since the frequencies are set accurately...
