    Default League of Legends

Throughout 2009, members of the Riot team had the privilege of meeting many of you while showcasing League of Legends around the world. Riot stopped by several of the year's biggest gaming conventions to share LoL with new and veteran players alike. Take a look below at the League of Legends travel itinerary from 2009.

    GDC
    Where: San Francisco, CA
    When: March 23 - 27, 2009
    Who: 17,000+ attendees

Fellow game developers and press got an early, hands-on preview look at League of Legends at the 2009 Game Developers Conference. Though still in closed beta, anticipation continued to build for LoL, which was featured on several gaming sites:

    IGN preview
    Curse preview
    Destructoid preview

    E3
    Where: Los Angeles, CA
    When: June 2 - 4, 2009
    Who: 41,000+ attendees

At the 15th annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, Riot threw a League of Legends bowling and battling bash at the Lucky Strike VIP lanes at LA Live. Lucky invitees got to fight it out in some intense 5v5 matches. E3 was kind to Riot, as League of Legends was nominated for the Game Critics Award for Best Strategy Game, and won Gametrailers.com’s Best Strategy Game of E3 Award.

Gametrailers.com Award Winner: Best Strategy Game
Game Critics Award Nominee: Best Strategy Game

    GamesCom
    Where: Cologne, Germany
    When: August 19 - 23, 2009
    Who: 250,000+ attendees

GamesCom 2009 was not only the first annual installment of the GamesCom convention, but also the largest games event in the world, with over a quarter of a million attendees! Riot and European partner GOA teamed up to put on a great League of Legends showing, sponsoring a DotA tournament that packed the convention floor with spectators.

    Penny Arcade Expo
    Where: Seattle, WA
    When: September 4 - 6, 2009
    Who: 60,000+ attendees

On September 4-6, 2009, League of Legends descended upon PAX 2009 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, WA. The League of Legends booth housed an awesome, 5v5 setup, complete with plasma screens featuring gameplay from both sides of the matches. Shoutcasters Psyonic Reaver and JR Davidson gave play-by-play commentary on the battles held throughout the day, whilst a massive crowd surrounded the booth, trying to get a peak at the action.

Tibbers took a break from owning on the Fields of Justice to spend some quality time with the fans. Speaking of fans, our happy beta family got a whole lot bigger after PAX, as we gave out over 8,000 beta keys at the show! Attendees of the show also received an exclusive, limited edition PAX Twisted Fate skin (you may have seen the numerous forum threads bidding for this hot item). Finally, the Riot team left Seattle with a perfect 3-0 match record at PAX. The dev team first took on a team of seasoned LoL beta testers before defeating the ZAM team, followed by a victory over the MMOhub team.

“There are games that come along in the industry that, by simply existing, manage to completely stretch, shake and re-define their genre.” - ZAM

“Every now and then, a game comes along that spirits me from this earth, leaving my lanky, gape-mouthed husk of a body as the only conduit between our world and the one in the monitor.” - Gamespy

    Tokyo Game Show
Where: Chiba, Japan (just outside of Tokyo)
    When: September 24 - 27, 2009
    Who: 185,000+ attendees

Riot Games joined partner Alienware at TGS 2009, or the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, to showcase League of Legends to the Japanese press and gaming community. This massive gaming convention, second only to GamesCom in attendance, spanned several airplane-hanger sized halls packed with over 185,000 attendees. League of Legends was demonstrated on Alienware’s high-end gaming machines, and shoutcasts of LoL played on a massive screen to conference attendees. League of Legends was one of only a select few titles representing the US PC game market at the convention, and we even ran into several long-time LoL beta testers from around the world at the show!

    Tencent Games Carnival
    Where: Shanghai, China
    When: October 17 - 18, 2009

Riot joined Chinese partner Tencent at the Tencent Games Carnival to give Chinese gamers an early look at League of Legends. LoL devs from both Riot and Tencent joined forces for a showcase LoL match against a tough team of prominent Shanghai-based DotA bloggers in front of thousands of spectators. The devs emerged decisively victorious. Additionally, League of Legends was promoted as the key new title in Tencent’s online game portfolio launching in 2010.

We had a great year bringing League of Legends to gamers around the world. Hopefully we had a chance to meet up with you at one of these events last year. If you happened to have a Riot sighting at one of these events, and can post the pics to prove it, we’d love to hear about it! We look forward to seeing more of you at the events to come in 2010. Speaking of which, what events would you like to see League of Legends stop by at this year?

    and you can see why.

But nonetheless, for those ganahan ug casual type nga games, try out LoL.
