Default Two Child Policy for the Philippines?

Wake Up People, Slowly We Are Becoming Like China..

The Bill would create a new agency called the Commision on Population which would 'encourage' families to have only two children, and promote the use of abortifacient drugs. This is serious stuff as it may not say so openly but it will effectively dictate how many children you can have.

No to Reproductive Health Bill (HB5043) Petition

    To: Congress of the Philippines
We strongly oppose the passage of the Reproductive Health Bill (HB5043) for the following reasons:

    1. AS EMPLOYERS, we do not want to be compelled to provide free reproductive health care services, supplies, devices and surgical procedures (including vasectomy and ligation) to our employees, and be subjected to both imprisonment and/or a fine, for every time that we fail to comply. (Section 17 states that employers shall provide for free delivery of reproductive health care services, supplies and devices to all workers more particularly women workers. (Definition of Reproductive Health and Rights Section 4, paragraph g, Section 21, Paragraph c and Section 22 on Penalties)

    2. AS HEALTH CARE SERVICE PROVIDERS, we do not want to be subjected to imprisonment and/or a fine, if we fail to provide reproductive health care services such as giving information on family planning methods and providing services like ligation and vasectomy, regardless of the patient's civil status, gender, religion or age ( Section 21 on Prohibited Acts, Letter a, Paragraphs 1 to 5 and Section 22 on Penalties)

    3. AS SPOUSES, we do not agree that our husband or wife can undergo a ligation or vasectomy without our consent or knowledge. (Section 21 on Prohibited Acts, Letter a, Paragraph 2)

    4. AS PARENTS, we do not agree that children from age 10 to 17 should be taught their sexual rights and the means to have a satisfying and "safe" *** life as part of their school curriculum. (Section 12 on Reproductive Health Education and Section 4 Definition of Family Planning and Productive Health, Paragraph b, c and d)

    5. AS CITIZENS, we do not want to be subjected to imprisonment and/or pay a fine, for expressing an opinion against any provision of this law, if such expression of opinion is interpreted as constituting "malicious disinformation" ( Section 21 on Prohibited Acts, Paragraph f and Section 22 on Penalties)

    6. We also oppose other provisions such as losing our parental authority over a minor child who was raped and found pregnant (Section 21, a, no.3)

    7. We also do not agree to the provision which reclassifies contraceptives as essential medicines (Section 10) and appropriating limited government funds to reproductive services instead of basic services (Section 23)

Thus, we urge you to immediately stop deliberations on the bill and stop wasting taxpayers money.

    Sincerely,
    The Undersigned

I am a responsible parent and before anyone conceived about this bill I have already adapted a two-child policy of my own. Yes, I have two sons, aged 21 and 14 and I don't entertain the idea of another child. This bill is timely considering we are approaching the 100M mark! Our agricultural lands have been converted to industrial zones and residential/subdivision enclaves, how do we feed this growing population?

This is a rehash of several other threads. The debate on the RH/Abortion Bill (HB 5043) may also be found on:

    https://www.istorya.net/forums/politi...rtion-107.html

A two-child policy is thoroughly useless and dangerous. The Philippines is NOT overpopulated. Our poverty is caused by massive corruption, indiscriminate debt servicing, economic mismanagement, and unjust economic structures that keep the poor marginalized. Unless these are addressed our poverty will remain -- and may even worsen -- no matter how fast or slow our population growth may be. Population has little to do with our problems.

The proposed bill will also violate our civil rights including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of parents to determine their children's education, freedom of consicence, and will also promote abortifacient contraceptives.

PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS AND THOSE OF THE UNBORN!
NO TO THE COERCIVE RH/ABORTION BILL (HB 5043)!

I think this calls for responsibility and individual capacity, kung dili pa gyud kaya ayaw lang usa pag-pamilya, establish usa ang kaugalingon para secure na unya ang e-tukod nga pamilya. Dili limitahan ang pag-anak.

Great idea, that's one thing China got right! However Philippines lacks the single-mindedness needed to implement such control. Also, in China the church has no voice while here the clergy are often in the driving seat (politically speaking).

agree! pro ko ani nga bill...

btw, if the church strongly opposes this bill mayta sila moy mag-atubang sa problema sa poverty og hunger tungod kai nanobra ra og anak ang usa ka pamilya nga dili well-off...

In my own opinion: Wala diod koy problema kung ganahan sila mag take ug "cancerous" pills, or mag sunod2x sila sa china or mag hatag sila condom sa ilang 10 year old nga mga bata.....

Ayaw lang mi apil apila anang mga binu-ang nila..

Ngano man sad daw I-priso ko kung mo oppose pud ko ana?

misleading man ni ang title sa thread.. there's no such thing as a two child policy.. Even with the RHB, there's no limit as to the number of children someone can have.

Excerpts from HB 5043 : Reproductive Health Bill SEC. 16.

Ideal Family Size. – The State shall assist couples, parents and individuals to achieve their desired family size within the context of responsible parenthood for sustainable development and encourage them to have two children as the ideal family size. Attaining the ideal family size is neither mandatory nor compulsory. No punitive action shall be imposed on parents having more than two children.
Daghan mu oppose sa bill just because of what their church is saying.... best way to decide for yourself is to read the bill and see if you agree with it or not.
