Default Writing zeros to harddrive is it advisable?

I need assistance on hwo to write zeros to harddrive kay wa na ko kbaw unsa buhaton sa laptop nko.
Bag-o ra naformat nko using OS xp pero after installing all the drivers(from manufacturer's cd), installing avira personal, nidetect daun ug virus ba to d mawa bisan i delete or quarantine. Kept reinstalling the network adapter kay mawala lng kalit internet. Autoshutdown by NT/authority system sad.
Now, i guess writing zero, format, install os will fix this? and what are the steps?

Having a virus after a reformat does not necessarily mean there's a virus in your laptop that is virtually format-proof. It could be the discs or the removable drives you are plugging in to your computer are infected. Even if you do a low level format to your laptop and your removable drives are infected then your low level format is just good as useless
