me and my friend are planning to put up a Private Access point within cebu city. and has a foot print of 8kms. were using industrial grade Access points and 1 repeater unit located near Marco polo Hotel. The service we got from the ISP is at least 2Mbps.but were only using at least 180kbps the most, for emails only in the morning But the cost of maintaining bandwidth of the system is prohibtiive, nkalockup mi for 2 years.

Presently were only using the system in the morning only. If anybody is interested we are accepting at lleast 8 people who are willing to share the cost to maintain the system at 700/month @ 2Mbps/shared/. were not using the system past 5pm and sayan kau walay gamit. Were located near the root so kusog kusog gyud. Anybody interested

yah yah yah, we know that you think is mahal, just to give you guys an overview. the APs are rated at 1watt output 802.11b/g, and were leaving the bandwidth unmanaged. so that 2Mbps in 2Mbps out na speed. :mrgreen:

But you have to have a wireless equipment of your own. any wifi equipemnt will. do. as long you can get the strongest possible signal para dili maputol and speed kusog. AS to the maintenance and access 500/month na lang. Unlimited access 24/7.

partly we are doing this to help those interested in the Wifi tech. the site will be secured with Mac filtering and Wep

the set-up is like dominion wireless

anyway with a footprint of 8km

you need a wifi card that has also substantial power....... so prepare your wallets....

as a rule wireless networking is challenging to set-up and don't expect to reach the highest speed..... look at smart bro(formerly smart wifi)..... they even have problems....

so you must be patient...... don't get frustrated right away.....

also at 2.4ghz..... there is a lot of interference so again...... be patient....

But if you have an existing AP nga indoor, we'll help you convert it into an outdoor equipment. complete with POE. :mrgreen:

The only thing Faeeeet(DISADVANTAGE) is that RAINY Season na karon, unya inig unos sa ulan wala na ato P500 putol2 na ang connection.
