Default Bad News for Call Center and BPO workers: 09/07/09 Not a Holiday

Badtrip jud kaayo ning GMA administration.

BPOs, electronics firms excluded from holiday | ABS-CBN News Online Beta

MANILA - Acting on a request from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) chief, Malacaņang announced on Saturday that Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) offices and companies in the electronics industry are exempted from the non-working holiday on Monday, September 7.

In a text message, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde, said the "BPO and electronic industries are exempted from the non-working holiday proclamation on Monday as requested by DTI Secretary Peter Favila."

President Arroyo on Friday declared September 7 and 21 as non-working holidays throughout the country.

Malacaņang declared September 7 as a national day of mourning for the late Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) leader Bro. Eraņo 'Ka Erdie' Manalo. All flags will be flown at half mast on Monday.

The President had earlier declared September 21 as a non-working holiday to commemorate Eid Al Fitr or the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

INC spokesman Bienvenido Santiago on Friday announced that "the interment of the late Brother Eraņo G. Manalo, Executive Minister of the Church of Christ, will be held on September 7, 2009, Monday, 12:00 noon at the Tabernacle located near the Central Temple."

Our company follows US holidays, so since tomorrow is Labor Day in the US, holiday mi, regardless of unsa pa dihang local holidays.

But personally, holidays, US-based or local, don't affect my work schedule--I'm practically at work everyday. I hate holidays. I just like to work, because I love my work. I really don't understand why people love holidays and feel the need to keep having holidays, when in fact we have breaks every end of the week, and duha pa dyud ka adlaw (Saturday and Saturday).

Bottom line I think, mga tawo abusado--gusto lang EASY MONEY and PA-LAMI-LAMI PA-HOLIDAY-HOLIDAY kanunay. *sarap pag-uumpugin ng ulo*
