Mga pips, our family is planning to buy a videocam.. and being the one nga kahibalo gamay sa mga gadgets, ako ila gipa pili.

Naa ko gipili-an.. sanyo xacti c5, mpeg4 format ni siya
and sony handycam HC21, mini dv ni siya. amo budget is about 25k and below.

my question is mas maayo jud ug quality and mini dv kay sa mpeg4?
and ma dritso rana cya transfer sa pc ang video gkan sa mini dv nga videocam?
kay ang mpeg4 format ma dritso raman na cya ug transfer sa pc using usb cable.

MiniDV offers a superior quality compared to MPEG4. I've tried a comparison myself and I ended up buying a miniDV camcorder. MiniDV can be transferred to the PC, can even be edited directly to tape, but it's not that fast and easy. You need a humongous hard drive because the files can be unbearably large but of course you can convert it anytime to decrease the file size comparable to that of MPEG4.

Sanyo xacti c5 vs. Sony Handycam Hc21? No contest bro, I'll pick the handycam. Mga caveats lang, if you really want to do PC editing and transfers, make sure you have a powerful PC, not high-end, mga midrange by today's standards. Then I suggest get IEE1394 or FIREWIRE if you don't have one. It's like USB but only miles faster. And bati nag software ang mga Sony. Yeah, I bought other software bundles out there, kay ilang gibundle sa handycam pangit kaau. A 60 minute video will cost you 13GB of storage space before conversions. Then I don't think Sony will utilize USB port for DV streams.

But if you don't have Firewire port, just want simple video recording, no more no less, a little editing, want just decent but not good video quality and don't want complicated matters, then the xacti c5 is for you.

mas nindot ang quality sa DV gyud, ang direct to MP4 for convenience lang kay converted na daan, pero kung hi end na videocam then taas ang iyang quality sa MP4 nindot sad gyud ang quality, kanang higher than 1 megapixel nindot na kaayo ug quality

Thanks for the info nezumix22 & darkwing. Based on your info, adto judko mu choose sa handycam hc21 for quality, at the price of 21,999.99, ok na kaayo. What i need is just some simple videos, a few editing and trimming nga maayo pud ang quality sa video. I will just need your suggested firewire diay to make quicker transfers. Ako lang gika hadlokan sa mini dv nga basin magkalisod ko, or i will not be able to do the editing at home, or a possibility nga mahal ang additional stuff i will need to be able to transfer and edit at home. Anyways, i'll just inquire sa stores unya about the prices of the firewire and other stuff. with a little practice, i think i'll be fine. thanks.

who else has other opinion. im also interested in buying a camcorder
