4) I've called Dell because I had two laptops with an 8400m gs and an 8600m gt which have not showed any signs yet but they told me to bring it in so they can repair the two items.

How can you set aside 200 million dollars for repair if there is nothing to repair.
We don't even know if other chips aside from the g84 and g86 are affected. Maybe they've just computed that the other chips will die when the warranty ends.
Maybe the best thing to do now is to temporarily shift to ATI.
