Default Installing new CPU with HT..should i reinstall WinXP?

    Hi,
Just upgraded my CPU from P4 2.4AGhz to P4 3.0Ghz HT. After installing, i did some test comparison like rendering time of videos from the old and new CPU and had at least a 25% time reduction. So I reckon the .6 Ghz upgrade is useful.

But my Prob, I'm not sure if HT is really enabled. I checked the BIOS of my ASUS P4800-E and it was enable though. But in windows, i'm not sure if it detected coz so far, there is no way to find out. The properties in my computer icon does not reflect Hyper-Threading. Is there any other way to find it out?

So this is why I'm asking if should I reinstall WinXP for it to find out? By the way, when i boot after installing it, windows was reconfiguring the system and asked me to restart. But still, I wanna make sure HT is working and enabled.

    Thanks!!!

Bro, mahibaw an na siya inig boot nimo, 2 processor ang ma detect sa display sa imo boot up process. kana bitaw pag start palang sa imo bios....If usa ra ka processor, wa jud na na hyperthread, pero if duha gani ka processor iya na detect, na enable ang hyperthread niya.

Ok, I'll check it unya inig boot if 2 proc ba. Ang CPU usage niya is around 58% ra when i did my rendering, sa old CPU, 100% gyud to.

By the way, bahin aning 58% ba, pwede ni ma maximize ang usage, like for example, kung sa-una 100% ang usage inig rendering, pwede ipa 100% gihapon sa new Proc para mas paspas pagyud pag render? 58% raman gud siya karon. THanks...

reinstall ur xp bro. be sure its the sp2 prof version to fully release the power of ur hyperthreaded proccessor. no need to reformat.

if u have bootable cd. u just repair the xp installation.

and inig human.. voila! inig adto nimo sa task or proprties . the os will detect it as having two proccessors. one logical and one virtual.
and the os will help also the rendering of ur videos. kay i pa work niya ang hyperthreading.

I have not reinstall XP yet but I saw two graphs in the CPU usage(ctlr+alt+delete), rendering time seemed faster, and my current XP is already SP2, so i think i don't have to kay kapoy ayo install napud balik uban drivers ug unrecognized programs. Ang ako lang, wala man gud mo tatak sa my computer properties... pero i think it's ok already...
