well unless if you do have the trustworthy tools over your desk, then you will be able to recover files from partition corruption.

the hdd is not getting enough power per operation. if ur using it as an external, try to plug it in as a normal drive in your pc. if your not using it as an external, just quick format it and get a good recovery software.
