According to sources close to Microsoft, the company has finalized the editions that they will be releasing mid-end of October 2006.

Microsoft will release the following editions:
-Windows Vista Starter 2007
-Windows Vista Business
-Windows Vista Business *N
-Windows Vista Home Basic
-Windows Vista Home Basic *N
-Windows Vista Home Premium
-Windows Vista Small Business
-Windows Vista Ultimate
-Windows Vista Enterprise

*N = is the reduced media version. It comes without Windows Media Player adhering to the European Commissions ruling that an unbundled version of Windows (without Windows Media Player) needs to be available to all OEMs and retail outlets hence forth.

Basically at the moment, it is unclear on how different is one edition to the other. Remember this is leaked info only, MS hasn't officially announced this yet .

I've installed Windows Vista Beta 2 version yesterday.

So far, my observation:
* I feel like Im in a Linux environment, because of its user interface.
* A lot of security features included like Phishing Filter, etc...
* Some tools are removed from the OS, like HyperTerminal... some are enhanced... I like its Photo Gallery Viewer...
* Very demanding requirements... Im using a a laptop w/ 1.5GHz processor, 512Mb RAM, and I find the system slow...

I still a have a lot to try with this new system...

1.5 ghz processor and 32mb 3dcard and at least 512mb, would be the minimum requirements, ive tried it and its fine but drivers have to be yet made compatible with vista.
for gamers its at least 1gb ram to push vista into gaming mode. just tot youd know

1gb diay minimum for vista to be able to perform well in gaming? suway lang ko ingani if maka- 1gb na ko, kay 768mb pa man karon ang akong ram. then, beta stage pa man gud ni, saka na lang if final version na. correct me if im wrong...
