ive read it and his "veronika decides to die" book. Both seem to be some sort of self help stories based on my understandings of his books.
His books are what I call Life Philosophy books, featuring lessons on good living through good storytelling... much like Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie.
Check out his "By The River Piedra I Cried", a good worthy read on true love.

I think many people are familiar with the name
So far I've only read his "Veronika Decides To Die". diemjudilla described his works perfectly "Life Philosophy".
I guess you could consider them self-help if you're on the verge of a mid-life crisis or something similar. Hehe...
I'll be reading The Alchemist and By The River Piedra soon...![]()
yeah diemjudilla described it better. can anyone give me the plot on "By The River Piedra I Cried"? i might be picking it up. thanx in advance
im currently reading the valkeries... so far im enjoying the book. im very intrested in his deep thoughts about life.![]()
boy am i glad i found you people
i like coehlo's works....and i have read all his books....if i may suggest a similar type please check out Kahlil Gibran....you may want to start with The Prophet...let me know what you think...
these books deal with universal spiritual philosophies that sometimes conflict with religion...especially Catholicism....i am a Catholic but sometimes i feel i need more ....there must be more to it than these man made doctrines is how i feel....![]()
I also like Sophie's World by Jostein Gaardner, though I never got around to reading the whole book. I'll get my own copy na lang.
How I wish Coelho's works and that particular book by Gaardner could be found in 2nd hand books sections, or in book rental places (though I don't know of any here in Cebu).
They are just too dang expensive![]()
i've read only The Alchemist. the prologue of the book makes you think.
