@kabaw. yup gud starting point na bro. then later on move on to DSLR. I too started with a zuper zoom. waiting for my DSLR to come very soon. Cause as you go about shooting you learn alot. And you'll soon want to go deeper.

ask lang ko bah.. kana sa dslr.. para unsa diay ng lense? nganong kailangan man mo palit ug lain lain nga lense?

para ma kuha nimu ang gusto nimu na effects sa imu mga shots... either zoom, portrait, macro or nighshots... depende sa imu applications mao mu vary jud imu lens...

ayaw na pagduha duha bai, diritso na palit ug DSLR, either canon or nikon. lahi ra gyud kaayo ang performance anang point and shoot camera compared to dslr. pareha nako nagkirig kirig ug palit sa sony H1 kay superzoom lagi pero after pila ka months nagbasul kay ngano wala nalang diritso palit ug dslr, hehehehe....

bai wikitoy makakuha gihapon ka og nice shots sa H1 bai. daghan ko nakita nga shot H1, H2, H5 og bilib gyud ko. Its the photographer man gyud not the camera. DSLR makes it easy and comfortable for the photographer.

Yes of course its the one that holds the cam and not the cam. I agree.

Most istoryans ask first your budget if you ask for recommendation because some P&S is actually more expensive than DSLR, say how much did you get for the H7? Youd be surprise .

DSLR has specific advantage over P&S like Speed and versatility. Try shot a fying bird you'll see.
You can change from ultra wide to super telezoom by simply changing the lens.
Shutter lag for P&S is rediculous you have to wait for the cam to reset. While DSLR shots whenever you press the button. (remember events only happen once in a life time a photographer doesnt want to miss any. comments from a photojournalist)
Battery consumption for P&S is usually short compared to DSLR, I could go 1000 + shots from my D40X w/out using flash.
