Default FFVII/FFVIII on my PSP Slim (3.71 m33-3)

rumors have been goin around that u can play ps1 or ps2 games on ur sony playstation portable, widely known as PSP
their actually not rumors.. theyr true..
basically its my number 1 reason why i bought my PSP Slim ver. 3.71 m33-3

so my question is.. has anyone here in cebu tried it?
is 3.71 m33-3 ok or do i need to upgrade to 3.90 m33?
if so, can u tell me where i can download the best version of the ps1 emulator (which does not freeze)?
how to rip my ps1 game cd's into the iso file format?
can anyone teach me how to do it?

    *pls help.. im desperate here

You're quite right about it, the rumors are true. You can play your old PS1 games in the PSP Slim even with custom firmware ver 3.60 (3.60 M33-1 at least).
I had been playing Final Fantasy 7 on mine ever since. And no, you don't need to upgrade to the latest version as long as you're using the custom FW from M33 it'll work. And you don't have to download the emulator since it has been included with the custom firmware. But maybe you should get the update for emulator (its name is POPSloader) since it has problem when reading from 8GB memcards.

Here's how to install your PS1 games to your PSP:

    I hope this helps.

Hehehe! Kinda brings back the memories. Well those were the days. I had finished this game about 4 times at college. The last time i finished this I collected all the materias, mastered every materia i got, completed all the summon materias, got every Enemy Skill, bred myself a gold chocobo, got everyone to their final limit breaks (except Aeris, of course), got everyone their ultimate weapons, and defeated all three weapons: Emerald Weapon (undersea), Ruby Weapon (desert) and Ultimate Weapon (Mideel). My characters were so buffed up at the final battle that the battle with Sephiroth was kind of a joke. I had more of a hard time defeating Emerald Weapon than the final boss itself.

hehehe... defeated also all weapons, had a hard time defeating emerald weapon though coz i dont have the materia that revives a character when it's dead...
but still managed to defeat it, cast knights of round like a gazillion times.... didto ra ko cge pa level up sa sunken submarine... never got them to 99 though, too tired na...
    probably the best FF ever...
