well generally its not good to eat too much canned food coz it contains alot of preservatives and harmful chemicals. pero depende man sad ni unsa nga canned goods imong pasabot. kung kanang canned goods na vegetables and fruits, i think they are just mainly swimming in water with sugar or in syrup and maybe some ascorbic acid and i think they have almost the same nutritional value as fresh fruits but the taste might not be as good.

but if your talking about canned meat or fish like corned beef, luncheon meat, sardinas or tuna fish then thats a different story coz they almost always contain alot of salt and preservative that are possibly harmful when consumed in long term. the very common ones are sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate, phospate, ascorbate, potassium chloride, MSG and many other. these chemicals are added to the food to maintain the color, flavor and prevent rancidity.

if you want to know what are the effects of eating too much preserve food then check http://altmedangel.com/additive.htm

kung ako pa nimo, instead mo palit kag canned foods, palit nalang kag luto daan. wa pay preservatives except asin and vetsin, granting the ingredients were fresh.

hapit man gani tanan foods, aside from canned goods, have negative sides. it's because majority of our foods have chemicals in the ingredients that would harm to our body.

correct! naa lang koy i-add... if you buy canned goods... pls make sure lang jud nga walay lumping ang lata kay mas harmful na sya. you may be exposed to some toxic metals naman gud kay kung nalumping na sya it means nga ang iya coating kay natipak na so corrosion will occur na

hinay-hinay lang pud sa pagkaon ug processed foods sa supermarket kay naa na silay "sodium nitrite". this preservative may or may not be written on the label but mao jud na sya ang preservative present in processed foods

here's some info about sodium nitrite

Sodium nitrite, with chemical formula NaNO2, is used as a color fixative and preservative in meats and fish. When pure, it is a white to slight yellowish crystalline powder. It is very soluble in water and is hygroscopic. It is also slowly oxidized by oxygen in the air to sodium nitrate, NaNO3. The compound is a strong reducing agent.

    Food additive

As a food additive, it serves a dual purpose in the food industry since it both alters the color of preserved fish and meats and also prevents growth of Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria which causes botulism. In the European Union it may be used only as a mixture with salt containing at most 0.6 % sodium nitrite. It has the E number E250. Potassium nitrite (E249) is used in the same way.

While this chemical will prevent the growth of bacteria, it is also toxic for mammals. (LD50 in rats is 180 mg/kg.)

Various dangers of using this as a food additive have been suggested and researched by scientists. A principal concern is the formation of carcinogenic N-nitrosamines by the reaction of sodium nitrite with amino acids in the presence of heat in an acidic environment.

Recent studies have found a link between high processed meat consumption and colon cancer, possibly due to preservatives such as sodium nitrite.

Recent studies have also found a link between frequent ingestion of meats cured with nitrites and the COPD form of lung disease.

The pancit canton has the coating nga makadaut. It takes about 3 days for the body to flush it all out.
