just saw Probe Team's feature about the two military personnel who testified about the cheatings in lanao. ang lt. col. ba, simple ra man diay kaayo ila house. kung lain pa to nadato na lang sa pangurakot. from the interviews, mo emanate gyud ang ilang integrity ug sincerity. i wish we had more people like them in the miitary and in the government. siguro dili maingon ani atong country. unfortunately though, because they chose the truth, napahamak hinuon sila. do you think it's fair?

for me... dili lalim ni ilang gibuhat, wala na gud sila retirement makuha. Well if the two are lying it can be proven... ato tan-awon ni ilang gisulti.

AFP officers ready to use force vs GMA — LA Times

Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are ready to chuck their military careers and support a coup d'etat against President Arroyo, in the hope of bringing about change in the country, reporter Richard Paddock wrote in the other day's issue of the Los Angeles Times.

“The turmoil in the Philippines has reached such a state that some military officers say they are willing to throw away their careers, like (Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent Leandro) Aragoncillo, in the hope of bringing about change,” the LA Times report said.

“Several officers who support a coup slipped away from their bases one recent night to meet with a reporter and dis-cuss their desire to overthrow Arroyo,” Paddock wrote.

The urgent need for a change was underlined when the officers were quoted as saying that under the Arroyo's administration, “corruption has flourished at the highest levels of govern-ment while the people have become impoverished.”

The officers added they are prepared to use force to remove the President. In her place, they said, they would install a committee of respected officers and civilians who would rule until a new Constitution could be drafted and democracy restored.

Referring to their having relied on constitutional means to oust Mrs. Arroyo through an impeachment, the same group of soldiers reportedly told the LA Times they were hoping Congress would do its job, with one soldier adding: “we were hoping that Arroyo would realize her mistake and step down, but now we have no option. She will not finish her term.”

On the same day the LA Times story came out, the Tribune also carried a statement from the Young Officers Union new generation (YOUng), a clandestine group of military officers who issued a “final call” to Mrs. Arroyo, urging her resign, otherwise, it said, bloodshed can no longer be avoided.


The call for resignation also included Mrs. Arroyo's “corrupt officials” including “her corrupt generals.”

The same statement also urged the top brass of the AFP to join their group.

YOUng pointed out the need for Mrs. Arroyo to resign, as she poses “a grave danger to the survival of the country and its citizens.”

“Therefore, we strongly demand for the last time that Mrs Arroyo and her corrupt officials and generals resign immediately and avoid bloodshed. Otherwise, bloodshed will be on their side,” the statement said.

The signatory to the statement also reminded the military top brass, led by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Generoso Senga, that the survival of the AFP as an organization depends on their cooperation with the YOUng group. “You are not our enemies. Dishonest politicians, smugglers, tax evaders, gambling lords and other dregs of society are,” said the statement, apparently addressing the military top brass.

The LA Times report appeared to have interviewed detained President Joseph Estrada, who was quoted as having said that given the crisis situation in the country today, Mrs. Arroyo “ is on day-to-day survival,” with Estrada adding: “I don't believe she can last.”

On the Aragoncillo files that were downloaded, some of which Estrada had admitted to reading, the LA Times said Estrada was “buoyed by the assessment in the US documents that he was a 'viable opposition figure' and could be an alternative to Arroyo.”

“He (Estrada) contends that he should be reinstated as President, even though his original term expired last year. He says he would clean up the country, oversee drafting of a new Constitution, hold new elections and then step down.

“We will have to have a transitional period of cleansing to put everything in order,” he said. “I will put everything in order in a year and a half.”

Aragoncillo, who had a top-secret security clearance, was arrested last month for allegedly taking classified documents from computers in US Vice President Richard Cheney's office and the FBI and alleged to have sent them to opposition leaders in the Philippines. The documents, primarily analysis of the Philippines' political situation by US Embassy officials here, do not appear to contain any important US secrets. But the US analysis have been embarrassing to some, especially Mrs. Arroyo.

“Arroyo has always exhibited paranoia and the need to control every aspect of the Philippine economy and politics,” says one document dated July 16 and apparently written by the Embassy's then- No. 2 Joseph Mussomeli. “As time ticked out for her administration, it was clear the biggest problem was Arroyo herself.”

US Embassy officials declined to comment on the documents or excerpts that have been published in the Philippine media.

“Some Philippine officials who acknowledge receiving the documents wonder why Aragoncillo would have risked his career to steal material of this nature. The answer may lie in the crisis atmosphere in the Philippines, where the economy is deteriorating, the military is fighting Islamic and communist insurgencies, and the government has difficulty providing basic services.

“Arroyo, who took power in 2001 with the backing of the military and “People Power” demonstrations, is under intense pressure to step down after the disclosure of evidence that she ordered an official in charge of last year's presidential election to rig the vote count in her favor.

The President has suffered the defection of key supporters, including 10 members of her Cabinet and former President Corazon Aquino. However, Arroyo's backers in Congress defeated an impeachment move last month and she refuses to resign. One excerpt from the allegedly stolen US documents speaks of Arroyo's “lingering illegitimate constitutional ascendancy to the presidency in 2001,” and says rumors of an impending military coup hang in the air.

Mrs. Arroyo has alleged that Aragoncillo was spying as part of a plot to remove her from office.

In June, more than a year after the election, Arroyo's staff released a tape recording in which she apparently telephones election Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano and directs him to make sure she wins by 1 million votes. The tape begins with, “Hello Garci,” a phrase that became the most popular cellphone ring.

“After weeks of ducking the issue, Arroyo apologized for 'a lapse of judgment' in talking with an election Commissioner but explained that she merely wanted to protect her votes.”

“A recent poll found that her approval rating had dropped to 19 percent and that 68 percent of the public favored her being impeached. Her office did not respond to a request for an interview.”

An Ibon survey, whose results were released yesterday, found that 64 percent want Mrs. Arroyo a removed as President.

Hehehehehe ...... sakto ka ! Pero mas mo apply na siya sa AFP and PNP bai specific . MILITARY in general .. us ara ang color ma US ka or ma Philippine based . Kani ako-a is proven fact ..... sa kang BATULAN and GUDANI we still dont know whats the real deal , pero dako ang chances na my speculations are right .
