Anyway, it is also worth noting that the basic ideas of laws is so in a large population the freedom of one is not violated by another. Simple ra man unta na mindset. Wiccans have that just one law. Why do we need so many to enforce that one true idea, that is, to live freely without violating other people's freedom?
Bahala'g malibang ka diha sa dan basta lang di na nako masimhot or matumban imong tae. In short, di ko mahasol sa imong kabuang. lol Anyway, you get the idea.
A lawyer once told me that "to enforce God's 10 commandments, a million laws had to be put in place to enforce it. In spite of that, criminals still manage to weasel out of it. That's why there are lawyers." :P I'm thinking bitaw maybe the concept of "laws" is a flawed concept to begin with.
The conception of law is natural. People want to create order and to be ascertained they can live freely. To protect life, liberty and property are the core of any society and to maintain that each person respect each others' natural rights. But in the course of things, there will always be people who wants other's to be this and that so that they can live a more convenient life. There also others who wants to be provided by others. There are also those who want to force their beliefs on other people. Thus is the nature of man and thus the necessity of a supposedly neutral third party, Law/ Government, to make sure no one benefits more in law and prevent injustices committed among the citizens.
Alas, guided either by greed or false philanthropy, there are others who use laws to benefit their industry or group, and it is verbalized in humanitarian themes, to which it is hard to oppose. They seek through our emotions and only talk of the things that can be seen, "benefit for all." But that is not the entire story. The government has no produce of its own to give freely for others. It can only resort to stealing, aka "charitable distribution of wealth." Is it really charity, nobility or philanthropy? No it is not. If i steal money from you to pay for Juan's benefits, am i a crook or a charitable person? If you only see the benefit of Juan, you can conclude I am charitable. But If you look at the whole picture, then you know that i am a crook.
When a certain group benefits from Law, it causes others to be envious. They would also seek to use law for their benefit. It is just but natural. Then we will have numerous, confusing, overlapping, misplaced laws that dilutes the essence of having laws on the first place. Laws can become tools for profit. It ceases to be the enemy of injustice, instead it becomes the very being it tries to prevent.
People will then try to correct social problems by....MORE LAWS! Where do we draw the line? We do not know anymore. Just like the story of ANIMAL FARM, we are swayed, indoctrined, conditioned, and forced to accept their versions of justice and law. That is the saddest fate for us... we do not seek LIBERTY anymore, we seek more laws. We do not know what we really want anymore. We are made milking cows of those who have the guile to be the elite of the society.
