Prostitution To Be Legalized...Pabor ba mo?

If ever Prostitution will be legalized in OUR country, do you really think that law will be strictly followed? Do you really think we will be solving a problem, in OUR country (known for many laws, but poor implementation)? What works in other countries does not automatically mean it will work in ours. Aren't there many laws regulating something in our country? How effective have we been in regulating them?

Legalizing Prostitution is a waste of Congressional Time and Effort. There are more important matters to be discussed. This should not be even considered. Group this with Legalizing Abortion and Legalizing Marijuana... in the trash....

it is indeed quite practical to legalize prostitution.... but what i fear are the unknown consequences that will arise from such legalization. We may regulate one problem but create two or more in the process. In a moral standpoint, prostitution should never be allowed. In a financial standpoint, i don't think this will promote progress and development although the country may generate revenues from this but in the greater scheme, this degrades the society. It may need some laws to be revised to accommodate the legality of prostitution. Family is the basic unit of society, and the Constitution recognizes this as something very important. If Prostitution is legalized, something like this might happen:

Wife: Damn you! you went to the brothel again! Damn u and all those prostitutes! Do you ever think about the future of your family? What about us and your children!?

Hubby: Shut up woman! I do no harm! Prostitution is legal, right!? I am breaking no laws! As long as providing you with food and shelter, you have no right to complain!

Wife: That's it! Im having a divorce! You can keep all your money to yourself! I can be a Prostitute too you know!

Daughter: (thinking to herself) wow, im gonna be just like mommy! I want to be a prostitute someday too!

I really don't think it is to our country's best interest to legalize prostitution....

This situation can happen and is currently common even if prostitution is still in the underground. Legal or illegal... these things still happen.

Thats why institutionalizing prostitution is an attempt to fix the problem at its root... para ma expose tong mga underground activities and ma minimize ang instances where women can easily just go on the street and go hoaring. Also, livelihood programs will educate the women and allow them better opportunities.

Legalizing it doesnt mean that we are encouraging it. Each person is also guided by his or her own moral standard as to whether doing it is right or wrong. Legalizing this is a way to help regulate the industry and make sure that rights are protected and liberties are defended.

i strongly agree with mannyamador on this matter... how about the families destroyed by prostitution? It's just not a matter of two people consenting, it's also a matter of how many people affected by such actions. I know some people's families destroyed or damaged because their dad/ husbands rented a prostitute. If we legalize everything that is hard to eradicate (prostitution for example), then we should legalize drugs, graft and corruption, rugby, etc... no clear victims from prostitution? How about the prostitute, her family, the dad's family? If we say just legalize prostitution because its the most practical thing to do, then we should legalize killing people, its also practical in a different point of view (less pollution, less people to feed, less "criminals", etc...).

You can just as easily rent a prostitute now that it is in the underground as compared to it being regulated. Prostitution is a personal choice. We are not depriving another individual of his or her right. Also, in you example, the only thing stopping the husband from renting a prostitute is his conscience. Legal or illegal, institutionalized or underground... it doesn't matter as it is his choice and a matter of his vow to his wife.

We can go around this issue but at the end of the day... prostitution EXISTS.. it is there.. we cannot eradicate it. Now, its our choice if we just ignore it as we have ever since... or face it and attempt to curb it.

so ur saying,.. di nalang ta mu pass ug law kay dili man ma implement? Imong objection is with regards to implementation... not the law itself. If we follow ur logic... then we might just as well junk all the laws since dili man ma implement or enforce.

That's the point.

Just because something is difficult to eradicate doesn't mean we shoudn't try. JUst because a law is difficult to enforce doesn't mean we shouldn't have that law.

And that is also why prostitution should remain illegal.

hmm.. i dont see anything bad bout this but i wonder how this will be enforced.. i dont think naa babae willing ma considered as a licensed professional prostitute..

besides di man na sila mag pa register para dili sila ma tax.. kay kung i-tax pa ni sila, pila nlang ila kitaon? mahal napud kaau ila services so mawala ila customers...

sa ilang kita, mka afford man sila medical services even without government support..
