for me, it's ok as long as your both ready to settle down..long engagement is not necessary. u will know a person well even if it is just 2-3 months

yup yup yup... knowing a person for a longer time doesnt always give us the full assurance that nothings gonna turn out wrong... people change... it a fact... what triggers that change differs from situation to situation... better rely on ur instincts...

studies say during the early phase of a relationship, dopamine and norepinephrine are triggered in people's brains.. and that they usuually get butterflies in their stomach, they don't sleep well, they daydream more, and their appetite fluctuates from day to day.. err it's literally on a chemical high.. perhaps this give justice to the old saying about love being blind...

i guess one could examine the viability of plunging into marriage life by asking some questions like:
why do you really want to get married? how much premarital education have the two of you experienced? do you see any value in this getting married too soon? my taxation professor, once told me not to rush things.. there's more to life than getting married too soon.. besides, you can both still enjoy each others' company still.. get to know each other inside-out, with an assurance of an easy a graceful exit just in case things don't go according to your liking..
