dapat lang jud mo-apologize kay dili jud maayo ilang gibuhat... and sakto lang jud na ni-protesta ang mga pinoy noh para dili na mausab pa.. not only for us filipinos but for other races as well...

as a medical practitioner here in the US, i can say that there is really no basis for that dialogue because in the real world, from my experiences here in the hospital, americans even praise us filipinos and admire at the quality of our education though we are just a third world country.. as they say, we may not have the advanced technology that they have, but in the academic sense, most pinoys are knowledgeable and full of ideas...

Im in the medical field and that comment is very insulting, as well as embarrassing. But we have to face the truth...our educational system is way below the standard. Asian countries conducted a survey before about the educational system of the Asia and our number one school is UP Diliman....ranked only 75th is ASIA. How much more if the survey includes the world?

Instead of taking it in a negative way, wh don't we do something about it? Let's face it : even if we are summa cumlaude here, our knowledge is lacking if we compete worldwide.

i beg to disagree... yeah, we may have substandard quality of education compared to them but that's certainly not a reason to insult or belittle us. i know you're in the medical field so you must know for a fact that before we are allowed to practice our profession in here, we must first pass a battery of tests... and these licensure tests are the same test which the americans also take so when a foreign graduate passes this tests, this means that he/she is equally qualified...

we are not talking here of what country or which univ. produces the smartest students because obviously harvard, yale, stanford, and the rest of the ivy league schools would top that....may not have the brightest students, but we can't deny the fact that most Filipinos are more diligent in their studies than some americans... another thing also is it doesn't really matter from what school you are, if a person is truly smart, competent and kbaw mo diskarte, bisan asa pa nga tingali na school or country, successful jd gihapon tingali... so there's no reason to look down on a person on the basis of his/her university alone....

pasensya na .. nag-heavy jud ko... i admit, affected jud ko ani na episode because it tarnishes our reputation man gud... naningkamot gani ta sa atong work so that we can gain appreciation and recognition from them, tapos sayon-sayonon lang ta... maski joke2x lang, it's offensive man gud esp for us in the medical field..

my take: it is not wrong to feel insulted or feel angry about the joke, it is not wrong to lash out against the joke...

but there's such a thing as taking it too far (and by that, i mean some who are demanding more than just a simple apology, like a full recant, or a boycott or banning of the show or for scholarships like this stupidity http://globalnation.inquirer.net/new...ticle_id=92508)... and taking the joke out of context...

like i said before, if they want to take these kind of actions, they should do the same for our local shows that make regional or ethnical stereotypes (baluga, bisaya, probinsyanos, etc...) a butt of many jokes...

Heeh! I don't feel any any offense on that. Maybe i just have positive mentality or i am fully aware that we Pinoys also make fun of other nationalities' attributes such as their accents, skin color, smell etc.

Kita gani mga bisaya himoon lang tang kataw-anan sa mga TVs and movies. Or kita pod na mga bisaya we make fun of other ethnicities like sa mga muslims, indians-we call them bombay, pero according to the indians ma offend daw sila ana term.

Ang mga dark-skinned colour na pinoys atong kataw-an, even mga Africans ato silang kataw-an because of their skin color.
