Guys, naa koy question... In terms sa pagbuhi ug gecko, unsa may nakalahi sa mistizo ug bisaya nga gecko?...

Recently, naa toko nga cegeg suroy2 sa amoa. Murag sa silingan ni namo gikan. Nya hilig kaayo motambay sa CR... Pero kong amo sad pahawa-on, masuko... Lain man sad ghud kng among patyon... So, im thinking nga akong dakpon nya buhi-on... Di bani mangunsa ang bisaya nga gecko?

just use a broom to scare it away bro. mhawa rna cla. u might wna thnk again before deciding to keep it coz mamaak jud na cla. ive had experience too sa cr. and i used a mosquito coil mounted on a stick to scare it pero it just bit the coil and ate it.

oist..karon lang ko kabisita ani nga thread...timing pa gyud nga naay lalis. peace lang mo mga bro and let's enjoy this hobby. it doesn't matter kinsa ang mas dugay ang experience with LGs. yes, naay mga nakauna and mas dugay and daghan ang experience...that's a fact. but i've seen some LG hobbyists here get transformed in such a short span of time from a total newbie...to someone you can already engage in a lengthy and informative discussion about LGs. This I know and experienced first hand. It only proves that they did their assignment...RESEARCH, RESEARCH AND MORE RESEARCH!

naswertehan lang gyud mi ni bro crom nga naka breed mi this season. and i think there are also other cebuanos who were able to breed LGs, this season, but preferred to stay low profile.

personally, saludo gyud ko ni bro crom coz apart from LGs, he also cares for a multitude of other animals in his "home zoo". i admire his passion for regular and exotic pet-keeping.


LG keeping is relatively new and quite challenging gyud. hence, magtinabangay ra ta. daghan pa gyud ang confused as to what are the different morphs and how to properly identify them...especially when they are still hatchlings.

sharing is the key. kung naa koy makit-an nga sayop (like kato morph sa usa ka LG na for sale karon sa "buy & sell" thread)...i will share what I know and try to correct the one who posted the information. Dili kay tungod gusto nako mahimong "bida" "hawod" or tawagong "guru"...but simply because a wrong information posted online can mislead other new and would-be LG hobbyists as well. definitely, we don't want to become a community of confused and misinformed hobbyists, right?!

the use of the term "mistizo" here can get some people confused as this term refers to a mixed-breed organism. but I understand that you are referring to the LG as imported or of foreign origin...and the tokay being local or endemic.

ok, to answer your question...LGs are primarily nocturnal terrestrial / desert geckos from the arid regions of iran, india and pakistan.

Tokay Geckos on the other hand are nocturnal arboreal (tree dwelling) geckos from the tropical regions of the world, ranging from northeast India and Bangladesh, throughout Southeast Asia, to Indonesia and western New Guinea. In short...the tuko is not an "exclusive" philippine gecko.

from the extreme habitats and dwelling preference of the 2 geckos (LG=desert, arid regions, ground burrows / tokay=tropical rainforests, caves)...I think you already have an idea of how different they are. In captivity, their enclosures would surely differ...terrestrial set-ups for LGs, Arboreal set-ups for Tokays.

Behavior-wise...LGs are more pleasant since when reared from hatchling...they grow accustomed to their owners and would readily allow handling.

Tokay's on the other hand are way-too aggressive, even when you have reared it from hatchling. But some tuko keepers would attest na naa gihapon specimens that became docile in captivity. Tuko-keepers in the US can even handle their pets...but of course almost all of them niagi ug experience na napaakan sila sa ilang tokay. hehehe!
