hehehehe.. funny people.. i was just reading all the posts..
anyway.. to air out my view..
in this universe, from my studies, there is such a thing as chance, or some people call it luck.. the fact that it is considered luck or chance is the fact that we cannot predict a future outcome. take for example, when you throw a dice, you can only predict in so far as the possible outcomes which is between 1 to 6, but what it will really show up when you throw it is not within your means to predict.. it is defined by probability.
all of our science and technology today operate on the basic principles of probability..
as one poster mentioned, shit happens, and we really don't know why or when it happens, but we can formulate reasons or purposes along the way as we unfold the causes behind it..
so in a manner of saying, we are the ones who put or define a purpose behind it, based on our understanding of the situation (whether its clouded understanding, or objective understanding)..
on the other side of the story, presuming that the laws of the universe are perfect (even though our understanding of them is not yet perfect), i could also believe that there is an initial will that will direct these laws..
you can inject your will and direct the outcome of a situation provided that you already know the laws perfectly.. for example, when i press the submit button on this page, it will post this message on the board.. if my control of the system is perfect, then my will to "push the button" will ultimately direct the outcome..
but i am not a perfect being, therefore, there is still the chance that the outcome will not be the desired outcome.. and if that happens, i can either give excuses, or accept the situation, learn how the system works, and determine the causes and to avoid such *accidents* in the future.
