Far too expensive and risky. A Chernobyl or Three Mile Island-like incident will be disastrous to the whole country, not to mention the whole of Southeast Asia.

Its like comparing Apples and Oranges... These plants are older and it is just like saying dont ride Airplanes right now because planes in the 30's were unreliable.... With the advancement in technology right now, Nuclear Plants have become safer, with lots of redundant safety systems, more environment friendly, needs less manpower to operate(automated systems) and based on some designs and specs, it can be cheaper. There are basically hundreds of Nuclear Plants operating all over the world as we speak(US, Germany, France, Japan, UK, etc.. are STUPID for using Nuclear Plants but Filipinos are smart thats why we dont use Nuke Plants, yeah we are so smart that our country is going nowhere).... Japan is the only country who suffered an Atomic Bomb attack. The Japs know the effects of radiation and its destructive power, and expected to be the most anti on anything that concerns fission... In fact what happened is to the contrary, not only that they are building Nuke Plants all over the place http://www.japannuclear.com/nuclearp...location.html# ... They are also one of the foremost countries in its development.Originally Posted by Viktor

I dont agree with resurrecting the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant... It is based on old school design plus the fact that it has been mothballed for decades makes us wonder about its structural soundness..
^^^it's simply bcoz japan doesn't hav much natural resources that dey can tap so dey got no choice plainly speaking
naa na bitaw sa panahon ni marcos then giscam man hinuon toh. don't you know that were still paying the loan he availed for the nuclear power plant?
I prefer if geothermal plants are build since naa daghan ta diri mga volcanoes. kung every volcano butangan ug geothermal plant then power should not be an issue..
Originally Posted by doce_pares
mas nindot gyud ug naa tay ato na power plant and i would suggest na nindot gyud ang Nuclear power plant.
^^^if dat's d case build d plant n luzon or make d bataan operational coz der demand s bigger dan ours so dat d geothermal will be ours alone
