Same feeling. I was so distressed. I feel the tension. Like you, I looked up to the sky and when I see some lightnings I just feel weird.

I dont recommend watching it. I trembled as I went out of the moviehouse. They suck our blood! Wow!

good questions. after the movie, i was left puzzled as to the purpose of sucking human blood to proliferate that red fungi-like growth covering the earth. what was the purpose of that "plant"?

the million years of preparation just got wasted. tsk tsk tsk

sa effects ra gyud gidaug ug ni dakota f.

    I haven't read HG's novel. But I really don't like the movie, I didn't enjoy watching it.
Is there an underlying connection between a father-son relationship and the alien i
invasion? I kinda agree with some of the people here, there are a lot of loopholes in the
    movie.

That is what the story is really about. The father-son tension... and the turmoil is what bridges their gap somehow because all they have is each other... or at least the son missed the father because they were parted at one point in the movie.

so far, bati gihapon para nako, if the issue was about father and son relationship, war of father and son unta to ang title, dili unta to war of the worlds.

maayo gani nindot ang effects labi na motingog to ang tripods ug tttoootttt, kulba!

tsk, i've been expecting earth will retaliate with all its advance weapons, like US will be using their Stealth Planes loaded with nukes, Soviets Scud Missiles, or Iraq's WMDs.

i also have a question about the effects...

ngano ang mga tao basta maigo sa heatray kay dili ma-unsa or magisi ang sinina, pero ang mga building gani nga maigo sa heatray mo-collapse or matumpag man?

yeah, the father-children relationship tugs at the heart. but i was more "touched" with the squabble for the only working car in town (conveniently driven by Cruise), Tim Robbins giving the father and daughter a hiding place (right before i realized that Tim is psycho), Cruise killing Tim to protect his daughter, soldiers fighting the tripods, the boat scene where Robbie helped people get on the boat (why didn't the others help?), i cannot recall the others.

the human nature aspect is too little. i am looking for that great passion for survival, which i didn't get from the estranged-father-bonding-with-his-kids aspect. it just feels hollow, incomplete, and lacking any real depth.
