The term Catholic is from the Greek word Katholikos which means universal, specifically used when addressing in general, according to the whole or on the whole..
or simply referring to the whole Christian Church.

"The earliest recorded evidence of the use of the term "Catholic Church" is the Letter to the Smyrnaeans that Ignatius of Antioch wrote in about 107 to Christians in Smyrna. Exhorting Christians to remain closely united with their bishop, he wrote: "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."

Let me rephrase my question... sayop diay oi... because both Old and New Testaments has some connections practiced in different religions...

Who started the belief expansion of our religion?

I remembered the legendary story of it, kadtong gi share sa usa ka Theist Bishop taga San Jose Recoletos sa una in my Theology class... Na inspired ko ato nga story... I just can't remember the name who started it all... Catholic ko... pero I am also a "Theist"... opposite mi of what a "Atheist" is....

I did not know if true bah to ang story pero naka feel ko that there is a very big possibility... matod pa sa Bishop ang Share

"Daghan books wala gipagawas tungod sa ka gubot sa utok sa tao... and uban gipang sunog, unya gamay ra mga pari sa kalibutan were shared... never to be put to writing".... That's how I remembered the speech... he was a Bishop Monk, maka ila jud ko niya if I see his face again.... pero back to my question... I hope someone knows...

Bro, I will try to answer that using the Scipture, in Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus said "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This is called the Great Commission that He left with the first century Christian to share the Good News all throughout the world.
