    Default SRP Congressional Inquiry

The spat between Cebu City and Cebu Province has turned from bad to worst. While some find it entertaining, most are facing it with grave concern. They are trying to slit each other's throat and questioning every projects that supposedly will redound to the benefit of their respective constituents. While it is true that it is wise that the other party will closely scrutinize the move of the other to avoid any anomalies, yet the scrutiny should be within the ambit of reason and fair play. It is entirely different if the scrutiny is bordering in harassment like the plan to have congressional inquiry into the SRP land deal. We all know that congressional inquiry is solely made in aid of legislation, yet in this case, a lot of eye brows have been raised.

don't get me wrong here. I'm actually defending here the right of Cebuanos to know. If somehow ang mga Garcia ang nka spill the beans about the shady FLI deal, then it's their credit. It myt appear that I'm defending them but if u read my previous posts in more detail, I am making my statements as fairly and squarely as possible without malice or prejudgment... This FLI issue cannot be anymore an issue of a ranting of a political rival u know. The issues raised against the FLI deal are pretty much valid and is getting more serious and compelling day by day if Tomas or the Council won't answer them in detail in time...

mao gyud. abangan...i just hope Tomas won't use again his SQUID TACTICS anymore on this, just like what he did after he came back from his first US operation...LOLs

Cebu City needs this deal period.

This wouldn't have been an issue if Mike Rama had been more circumspect with his priviledge speech in the Council.

This bickering is counter-productive if the aim is to bring in more investors to Cebu City and Province.

So, shut up already. And kiss and make up. Blessed are the peace makers !
Correction. Yes of course, Cebu City needs investors for SRP but should not in any way anomalous and shady as this FLI deal that could be worse than the Piatco deal...

if not for this political bickering, the people wouldn't have known pa gani cguro this early. ad2 nata makamatngon kung humana tanan and too late na, just like the lamp post scandal...

i agree with you. This spat is becoming more and more distractive and destructive to Cebu in general. But let's take note kinsa ron ang nag effort ug reconcilation...is it Tomas? is it Gwen? is it PJ? is it Rama? is it Bimbo Fernandez? is it the RC Church? One thing is pretty sure: C Tomas gahi panas kusahos sa Bohol ug dili gyud na mo swallow sa iyang pride chicken...never.

And regarding the issue about the congressional inquiry if it's the proper forum or not, the issue can still be debatable whether it can be called "plain harassment" or whether it is just the right legal move...it could be both.

coz it is good to know also how the FLI deal ended up being anomalous (if proven) with the people not knowing at an instant when it was signed, and would be a gauge how really effective our laws about LGU bidding processes and if there are still loopholes and weaknesses that can be corrected to avoid any future incidents like this...

remember that because of the CICC and lamp post investigations, governmental procedures have been tightened more and upgraded to avoid things like these in the future. And if this FLI deal if proven to be another deal that slipped thru, then the more reason to re-study again the law.

if this House inquiry pushes thru on Apr 13th, then this will not be a good sign for the Cebu City officials. Something that should worry them a lot, not only for them risking their legal careers as lawyers and politicians but also the embarrassment by putting them on the limelight. well, who's to blame but only themselves anyway...
