I myself am curious about James Cameron's "Titanic."

But, really, after "Titanic", where is James Cameron? After "LOTR", now we see Peter Jackson with his "King Kong," like wielding a blank cheque to make what he wishes to make.

I wonder why "Titanic" did not give James Cameron the same opportunity in the same way "LOTR" did to Peter Jackson.

    Just curious.
mildly OT: Basin nag burn out na siya.... it happens. But it's been 8 freakin years... although he's produced and written some material e.g. Dark Angel and done some docu like the underwater thing, bitaw I wanna see him at the helm of a narrative motion picture once again.

If di siya mubalik, then Cameron has had his 15 minutes.

O.T. I think Mr. Cameron is still recovering from a Divorce from Actress Linda Hamilton.Â* I am not talking about the emotional aspect, I am talking about the $$$$, Assets & Properties.Â* Divorce is really nasty.Â* The Woman can clean you up!Â* Even w/ a Pre-nup the hungry Lawyers can still rake some cash.

nice movie for a 3 hour span, pero do you have the patience to watch the movie again and again?
errr.. 3 hours.. anyway its a nice movie..

Some GOOFS that you might find interesting...

Continuity: On the cliff where Ann is entertaining King Kong by dancing, juggling, doing flips, etc. her face goes from dirty, to clean, to dirty, and back to clean between shots.

Continuity: In a scene at the very top of the Empire State Building, Ann hugs Kong's left arm. In the very next shot, she is stood right in front of Kong, between both of his arms.

Continuity: In the scene where Jack Black and Adrian Brody are talking on the boat (as it's getting ready to leave), when the camera is focused on Jack, the cityscape behind him (through the window) is moving (as if the boat has started moving), but when it focuses on Adrian, the cityscape behind him (through the window) is not moving.

Continuity: When King Kong is chasing Adrian Brody, he leaves a path of destruction before hitting the car. However, when Naomi Watts walks down the road (which is the same street Kong came down) there is no destruction and all the cars are parked as normal.

Continuity: When Kong falls through a portion of the circular observation deck at the top of the skyscraper, he crushes the metal siding as well as one of the metal girders, making a large hole. When he puts Anne inside through the hole, the metal girders are now all undamaged. You can tell that this is the same hole because the camera moves around the entire building in the next shot and there are no other large holes.

Continuity: As Jack Driscoll flees Kong in a yellow cab through a narrow alley, the view through the (missing) windshield shows a pedestrian in light-color overcoat crossing leisurely at the other end. When the car eventually emerges in the immediate next shot viewed from the sidewalk, that particular pedestrian simply disappears.

Continuity: In the scene where the movie star is trying to talk them into giving up he has a rope slung around his chest over one shoulder. He never takes it off, but when he leaves he no longer has it, and Adrian Brody is holding it.

Continuity: After Kong breaks loose from the chains, in some shots the chain tower on the left side disappears: there is nothing next to the platform stairs.

Continuity: When we first come into the galley, several crossed-out lines of writing can be seen on the chalkboard mounted on the wall. When the crew enters to confront Denham about their true destination, the chalkboard is mostly blank, with only a couple of faint smudges.

Continuity: When Jack is rescuing Anne she has two cuts above her right eyebrow, the smaller cut changes positions and disappears/reappears in different shots.

Audio problem: When Carl tells Preston to show Anne on board the ship he says something like, "hello, Miss Darrow, I'm Mr. Denham's assistant." His lips aren't properly synchronized with the dialogue when he says this.

Continuity: At the end of the chase through the streets of NYC, Kong stops the yellow cab with a "karate chop" to the front-end, which sends the car tumbling high into the air through a complete somersault before it lands back down. Actually, Kong's hand is still half way down and nowhere near touching any portion of the vehicle when its rear-end gets lifted.

Continuity: Anne is soaking wet when she is being led through the natives. When she gets to the top of the wall she's dry.

    This is a visual metaphor.

I saw this movie last Sunday, and all I can say is: w00t!

    - King Kong shows more emotion than almost 80% of all actors/actresses that you see on TV or in the movies.
    - The triple T-Rex/King Kong smackdown was absolutely amazing.
    - Naomi Watts is hotter than evah...
    - I never expected Jack Black to take such a role, but he pulled it off pretty well.

Way to go PJ! Looking forward to your next movies!

really enjoyed the movie. too many overdramatic parts though. it's as if jackson wants us to cry all the way. long winded scenes here and there. acting and visuals were top-notch. this movie could have been cut to 2 hrs., seriously. i felt there were too many filler scenes. overall a nice movie.

    r/brey,

The problem with Peter Jackson is that he seems unable to throw away footages he got under difficult and expensive situations. He feels --- or so it seems --- he must use them although not without cost to the overall impact of his storytelling.

I guess, his next film --- on the assumption his WETA Digital and Workshop will still be romping all around Auckland --- will still be over three hours.

But there is in the vicinity of SM Cinemas every day this man named Porferio who only watches movies that are three hours long or even longer. He is that guy sporting extra-long hair and wearing his perennial sandals. Shorter films --- in his book of rules --- are a cheat.

on the trailer, there was this scene being shot with watts being made to let out a bloodcurdling scream and being returned by an ungodly howl from the mountains...wala man sa movie?

i enjoyed the moive immensely, as in on-the-edge action lagi, but the movie could do with a little less dramatic emphasis on king kong's emotional state..i mean, hehe...it was laying it on a bit thickly...but jackson, as usual, won me over with the visuals, and adrien brody didnt dissapoint.

and i have got to say this: is naomi watts the most beautiful woman in the face of hollywood or what? she just keeps getting prettier and prettier the longer you look at her.

the movie also reminded me a bit of the rings, kay ang cinematography murag parehas...the walled fortress for instance looked a bit like the castles sa fight scenes sa rings..dont know the names kay di man ko ring fanatic...

but anyway, the movie was more than i expected for a 25 foot orangutan...
