Best Cebuano Guitar players?

John-john Castañeda. Best guitarist I ever heard, ever.

Not "philippines" good. I mean "world" good. On the level of Satriani and guys like that. REALLY GOOD.

He plays in Manila, mostly studio and TV stuff, but he's from Cebu and the uncle of my drummer.

Also, my old teacher, Benjie Rigor. He and I had different musical philosophies, but we had mutual respect and admiration. He and I couldn't be more different in styles. He's an 80's type guitarist. I sound lvery 70's.

Special mention to guys whose playing I miss:

Steve Dinampo of Fivez. Hated his guts, loved his playing

Edwin Carson of Shrapnel. Musical honesty, plain and simple.

That dude from The Ire. Forgot his name, but I still remember his style. Very cool cat.

Cebu is blessed with a handful of great guitarists.Â* Sadly, most modern players prefer attitude and get-up over technicality, emotion and skill.

But anyway, here are the guitar players in Cebu that I find really good and have earned my respect in a musician's aspect:

- Carlo Borromeo (Sinister Six)
- Gavin Aninon (Purple Helmets)
I miss jamming with these guys.Â* Those jam days before helped improve my playing.

- Henry (40 The Band)
- Anot (40 The Band)
- Randy Pages (40 The Band)
- Manny Amador (formerly from The Breed)
This guy can RIP guitar and I mean RIP!

- Anton Cortes (Burning Culture)
I must say this is the most improved guitar player I have ever known. I like his playing, his technicality and humility.

- Poldo (Johnnie / Zzubu)
This guy has tons of attitude in his playing and has a lot of space for beer in anywhere inside his body

- Jam Quijano (my brother, formerly from Cattski)
This is not because he is my brother, but this guy really has a good ear for guitar and music.

- Maki Vano (PG 1
One of my favorite Cebuano guitar players.Â* 'Nuff said

Lloyd Escario (Uk Lily)
This guy can play it clean. And I mean clean. One of the most disciplined guitarists in Cebu.

Mark a.k.a. saemunder (Donzelia)
We became friends when his band used to practice at Bigfoot Oracle's music studio in Talisay. This guy can sweep arpeggio ala Jason Becker and speed pick like an electric drill.
