I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...com.topstcn.eq It has an alarm function, but since it has to go through seismic agencies, the alarm tends to happen a few minutes after the fact. For real time alerts, I suggest get this vibration monitoring app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ion.monitoring. The settings I use (press menu > settings): remove earth gravity checked, then set vibration threshold to 1.0 m/s^2. Use a long, loud sound for the siren (it won't loop, so make sure the sound lasts long). Set the phone on a flat stable surface and activate the alarm. The app will work even if the screen is off, and it will warn you if there's any shaking.

It's probably impossible, I know, but I seriously hope they find who is behind these text hoaxes and throw them in jail for a very long time. It's no different than shouting "bomb" in a crowded theater.
