what qualifies as a lomo camera? is it just the brand like LOMO and HOLGA, or are there specific options/capabilities that the camera can do in order to call it LOMO?

Any product sold by the Lomographic Society is considered a Lomo camera. It is a brand but they are also selling non Lomo gears.

LOMO is a brand name just like HOLGA or DIANA. You can actually get a similar effect from those cameras by using a conventional film camera or digital (with photoshop help). Because of its popularity (Lomo).. a term "Lomography" was born.. but really it is just a brandname.
