probably if we have a different type of government then i might consider martial rule.

why? because it is a no-brainer that filipinos needs to be ruled by an iron hand.Â* just like singapore.

ambot lang kay murag by nature na man ni atong pagka wala'y disiplina ug pagka tapulan.

I'm guessing you didn't live through the martial law days. How would you like waking up one day to find your dad or brother missing after being arrested by the police simply for being suspected of being against the President? And never hearing from them again? That happened to thousands and thousands of families during the martial law period.

Again, the best protection we have against corruption and abuse in government is a free and vigilant press.
We've seen all too many movies wherein the media (be it newspaper/tv/radio) is where the good guys run to when no one else can be trusted for the truth to come out. And we know this is all becoming a reality. We don't even know what's the truth anymore. Nowadays we only know what we are being told . Even what we read in the papers- are you sure what we're reading is the truth? Take what happened last night. Did B/Gen Miranda asked to be relieved or was he unjustifiably replaced? What really happened ?

right... they expect the people to just believe what the administration is saying. do you expect me for example to believe in those people who lied a couple of times?

@jnex: that's why i'm very careful... dili ko mo too dayon sa ilang sulti. that's why i'm waiting for Gen. Miranda on what really happen. Pero base sa gi-sulti sa asawa ni Queruben, contradictory man sa gi-claim sa AFP... kay mura man wala siya ni relinquish sa iyang post voluntarily. If he voluntarily want to relinquish his post... onsa man hinungdan?

    Commandant: Marine standoff settled

The standoff created by the relief of former Marine commandant, Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda has been settled, the Corps' newly-installed chief said late Sunday night.

Brig. Gen. Nelson Allaga announced the development as a crowd gathered at the chapel in Fort Bonifacio in support of Miranda.

Allaga told reporters that the "misunderstanding" that stemmed from a complaint made by Col. Ariel Querubin was patched up. He said the Marine leadership and Querubin have reached a gentleman's agreement to settle their differences.
"Kinausap ko na ang lahat ng mga commanders ko at maayos na ang lahat. Pwede na kayong umuwi (I’ve already conferred with my commanders and everything’s already settled. You [reporters] can go home now)," Allaga said.

The Marine commanding general said he is now the authority following the relief of Miranda.

"He [Miranda] submitted a personal action form [requesting his relief] and I replaced him,’ said Allaga.

Allaga, however, declined to present Miranda to reporters though he was with Querubin during the address. The Marine general said Miranda was inside the headquarters.

With regard to Querubin's initial refusal to recognize him as Marine commandant, Allaga said: "Ako na ang nakakaalam noon (That's up to my discretion)."
He then turned his back to reporters and refused to answer any more questions.
